Good morning yall.

I have a 21 f150 I've owned since Sept of 21. I want to put some kind of liner in my fender wells to complete the look of it. The white kind of looks bad. I've seen the $100 liners but have heard they trap dirt, sand and other debris. Can I line x my fender wells? Anyone done this? Thanks.

I recently removed my left fender well liner for some work I was doing. I had them on for about 4500 miles before removing them and the amount of dirt and grit built up was not anything I’d be concerned with. You’d never know it was there if you don’t remove the liner.

Is that your only hang up with the liner? I’m just personally not a huge fan of the idea of line-x or whatever in the wheel wells

I have not done it, but have seen lineX applied to the wheel wells. You'll get a black, hard surface on everything, but you'll need to sand/scuff up the existing paint, and make sure its all clean before applying the lineX. Just like any paint, the quality of the application is all in the preparation work.

The liners not only black out the wheel wells but also add guarding to control where the rocks, mud and gunk get thrown. So personally I'd say the liners are the better option, quicker, easier, and they help keep all the stuff in the wheel well instead of in between the bed and fenders.

Yeah pretty much. I just didn't want sand or anything getting back there and rubbing and scratching up the truck.

They do that before they spray on the liner anyways…. Maybe you can get the plastic liners for now and in about a year you can get the spray on. It’ll save money on prep since there will be less sanding involved ?

On a previous truck I had the rear sprayed with Line X. Trucks since I do liners.

Liners are quick install, no down time or appointment neccessary.

The LineX eventually gets full of crud and they never come clean and black. They end up looking pretty bad after some use. Plus, there are some dealers that won't spray the wheel wells with LineX, not sure the reason.

IMO the main advantage of the liners (Husky, etc) compared to Line-X spray is that the liners do a much better job of confining mud to the wheel well where it's easy to clean off the slick surface of the liner. With Line-X you'll still get mud thrown into the space ahead and behind the wheel well areas just as you do 'stock', and the texture tends to make cleaning a bit more difficult.

But, choices are good, go with what you like!

I did the liners. They literally take 3 minutes to get on or off if your really concerned with cleaning behind them.

I did the ValuGard undercoating spray rather than Line-x. Matte black. No issues.
