What broke?

Have not had a chance to look under the truck yet, slammed on the brakes today on the freeway and came to a momentary complete stop. Front tires did a weird left right movement while i skidded to a stop, as if I was moving the steering wheel left to right myself.

Upon going again the steering wheel is now like 30* right of center while driving straight ? now I have to drive with the steering wheel about 30* off center to the right in order to go strait. 2021 Lariat Poweboost max tow.

Im getting new MICKEY THOMPSON BAJA BOSS A/T LT285 /60 R20 125Q on Friday and going to have Americas Tire do an alignment to try and figure out wtf happed. Luckily I have my jeep I can drive to work until then.

Anyone else have the steering wheel alignment shift after braking hard?

That'd be your dynamic steering ratio that's gone stupid. There's a motor in your steering wheel that will 'overdrive' your steering inputs. Don't have one to break so can't give ya diagnostics on it. It's popped up a time or two around here, most trucks under warranty when I saw it, don't recall anyone dealing with it themselves.

Isn't there some routine for Steering Centering Reset on these? It seems like I read it somewhere, but can't recall. (getting old is brutal)

I know my ND Miata had a routine you had to go through to get the wheel and steering re-centered if you had disconnected the steering rack for any reason.

I had a few weird hiccups like this doing u-turns recently where the steering got VERY fast and returned to center too quickly but it didn't stay in the off-center position.

If you're out of warranty, ask the alignment place if they know how to calibrate it. Otherwise I wouldn't have the alignment done until a dealer resets it.

Ay I hear ya on the getting old haha ?

Got new shoes put on it and had Americas Tire do an alignment, all is good now
