I have a 2022 Powerboost and drive from NY to FL yesterday. On my second fill up I had a hard time opening the fuel door. I kept pushing the button and after the fifth time it opened. I started pumping gas and noticed the gas pump kept shutting off. I kept trying to pump over and over again. After sometime I was able to get all but 2 gallons in. That’s when the gas started to overflow into the street. I couldn’t understand what was happening as I knew the tank could hold 2 more gallons. I ended up leaving but my check engine light is now on. The truck acted weird for like 2 seconds and other than the light now drives completely normal.

I just filled it up again and had none of the problems above but the check engine light is still on. Any ideas?

I'm guessing that your truck was experiencing an issue with the evap system?

Good to hear it corrected itself, but I'd caution trying to get a couple of more gallons in after the first auto shutoff. You can unwittingly flood the evap canister with fuel.

That’s not what happened. My car was on empty and it would only take 10 gallons. I had to fight to put the other 18 in. It even overflowed when there was only 20 in the tank. It was like the gas was being physically blocked from going into the tank. I hear there is a carbon filter that the gas runs through before hitting the tank and i wonder if that’s it. The check engine light is still on.

Odd, maybe your filler neck has a tumor. This is pretty wild, would love to hear the conclusion.

Perhaps the Fuel Vapor Vent Valve (FVVV) didn't open as commanded, so the fuel tank pressure increased until fuel could no longer be pushed into the tank.

It's insane how many components are now in play just to pour fuel into a plastic container.

Most likely this. The PB fuel system is pressurized, which why it takes a moment from hitting the button to the door opening. If the vent valve didn’t open, the tank was still pressurized and very little fuel was going to get into the tank. This has been reported by some when using the manual fuel door release.

Hi there, I'd be happy to look into your F-150 concerns on my end. Will you send us a message with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into things on my end.
