Thanks for the replies.

I'm as guilty as anyone, re over engineering and mission creep and I'm trying to keep that down.

Coming out of the rig, you have a standard RV 30 male, to plug into the pedestal. If you needed an extension cord, that wouldn't be a protected (water proof) connection and nobody would jump up and down about it, unless it was laying in a water puddle. And speaking of pedestals, they aren't waterproof either, so, I'm seeing this, a lot like that.

As I said in the OP, I'm not opposed to upgrading the connectors, and its a near certainty, that upgrading the wire to something more flexible will happen, at least for the RV cord, if not both. But I do want it to be flat wire.

Something like this maybe.

https://www.amazon.com/Triplex-Oxygen-Free-Insulated-Electrical-Automotive/dp/B0BWYB24JF/ref=sr_1_4?crid=3UTCV1JJT1E8L&keywords=10go+marine+wire&qid=1693836249&sprefix=10g+marine+wire,aps,117&sr=8-4&th=1

If I could find the same in a service entrance wire, that would be fine too but I'm not finding that in a flat form factor, in braided wire.

The wire choice for an external PPoB connector is not as critical as the connector choice. The idea is to have a connection to PPoB outside of the truck bed. A connector outside the truck bed is going to be within 18" of the pavement bathed in a constant spray of water when raining and sometimes a salt brine is in the mix. You really don't what a connector out in that mess that is hot carrying two legs of 110v @ 30amps. Not as critical if your use case involves PPoB not in motion. But still an issue.

I will never forget the fire that started in an external 110v connector on my house when a downspout clogged and flooded the junction box.

Yeah, if I wanted to power the trailer while underway, your solution is superb.

But I don't see that need for us.

I'll have ample solar and battery bank for keeping the fridge powered and plugging into the PPOB will only be needed for extended air conditioning or space heating use, while camping remotely. Maybe multiple cloudy days or shade, to recharge the batts.

Are you referring to the black connectors on the truck? The top one is the seven pin connector for the trailer lights and brakes. The lower connector is for the Pro Trailer Backup module. He has it installed on his trailer so he can use the steering knob on the dash.
Yes. Oh ok, mine uses just the sticker but have not really tried it. Also, my question was for both the PPOB and the trailer 7pin. I guess you can do that while travelling.

Yes, you can use PPOB while driving. We have used it several times while driving to power a small fridge and other things. I have heard of people actually wiring in there camper so it can be plugged in while driving.

My truck is supposed to be compatible with the Pro Trailer stickers, but last time I checked it still only allowed the device. I think I got forgotten.

OK, thanks for the confirmation. I connected the sticker one time to try the system but due to heat, the sticker fell off. I'll put one again with double sided tape this time.
