I have a 6inch lift and a 12inch 4x4 wood block works great, having a few of those around for other uses helps too, like wheel chocks etc. And they cheap.

Do you all put the floor jack under the rear pumpkin even though Ford says not to do that?

Never!,

your the weight of the vehicle stress on the axle tubes!
Do you just jack up one side at a time at the frame?

Coming from Toyota trucks, jacking up under the pumpkin was not a big deal.

Yes, One side at a time, then jack stands.

AI:
" Jacking a truck up from the rear differential can create stress on the axle tubes, potentially causing damage, especially on vehicles with thinner axle tubes pressed into the housing. This is because the tubes are not designed to support the full weight of the vehicle when lifted from this point. It's generally recommended to lift the rear axle using jack stands on the axle itself or at designated jack points"
