turning off cruise control

I have a 2025 powerboost, How do you turn off the cruise control while driving?
I do not mean disengaging it but turn it off completely without turning off the truck.
I read manual and it states to hit on button again, but it does not clear it off the dashboard.

Press the one in red to cancel active cruise control but leave it on and the one in blue to turn it off. If lane assist is enabled then the icon in the lower right next to the Set- button will still be present on the cluster.

I own a 2025 Escape and 2024 F150. I’m going to speculate the following for the OP’s 2025 F150:

Look at Porpoise Hork’s picture above in the red rectangle. I bet your 2025 F150 button says “RES” (resume) there, and not the two symbols his picture shows. Am I right? My ‘25 Escape shows RES in the red rectangle above.

Assuming you have RES button there, try this:

When engaged, in the Escape, you either press the brake or press the blue circled button to go to Standby mode (not the red rectangle button described above). From Standby mode, press the blue circled button (yes for a second time if you entered standby mode the first time by pressing the blue circled button) to turn cruise control OFF.

So, there is confusion in the 2025 F150 owners manual, I speculate. The 2025 F150 manual doesn’t talk about the RES button, it shows the red rectangular 2-symbol button above but I bet your button says RES instead????

Edit: my speculation about a button change on F150 was wrong, keep reading. It had confused me between my Escape and truck so that is why I posted the thought.

The first picture is my 2025 powerboost steering wheel, 2nd picture is the dash before turning on cruise control, 3rd picture is icon for cruise control on , on the dash.
I can not get the cruise control icon to turn off, hitting the off button does not turn off icon, i also have lane keeping off, if i hit the resume button it activates the cruise control , I want to turn it off completely when driving.

You have to press the car/speedo button circled in blue again to turn off cruise control once disabled by pressing the brake or the cancel/resume button.

I followed your directions, which are the same as the manual, but that icon will not go out. And stays in standby mode till shutting off the truck.

Just tested it on my 22 PB. Even sitting parked it turns on/off with the button.

Ok took truck for a spin and changed cruise control from adaptive to normal, and the off switch worked, went back to adaptive and voilà it now works!
Too much software in these trucks.
