Got to give credit to my dad on this idea. He mentioned doing the tailgate F150 stamped emblem inserts but painting them to match the truck.

Really gives it a subtle look almost like the Chevy Silverado composite bed tailgates from the early 2000s. I love the look of the stamped outward letters.

Just a subtle, small little thing that most people will never notice but I love it. He did it on his first and then sent me a set of the letters to paint for mine too.

First road trip with the truck. 900 mile trip each way to my destination. NC to MA via I77, I81 to mass pike.

Outstanding experience, comfort and large sedan like mpg haha.

Dash reads about 1mpg high. Hand calculated the first 595 miles was 27.2mpg.

The next 300 miles or so seemed to be the same. Thrilled.

Be interested to see how it does on the 900 mile trip home next weekend.

Wrapped up my trip, just under 1,900 mi. Saying I'm impressed and pleased, doesn't describe enough how enjoyable this was with the truck. This beat my old 2015 Ford Taurus SEL 3.5na V6 mpg and rivaled it with comfort. I bought that car 10 years ago as a commuter before I bought the Mustang.

I ended the trip with fuel mileage at a hand calculated 27.2mpg. The 5.0 and 3.31 gears have tons of power, the XL base seats are so comfortable, and just an absolute pleasure to drive.

Got my bike mount straightened out. My GT is a 27.5, not sure if a 29er would fit but works for me in the 5.5' bed.

Used the nice fork bracket attached to a 2x6 in the front pocket of the bed. Just a strap lightly tensioned over the rear to keep the bike from bouncing around and it worked great.

Just needs a nice coat of black paint and that'll wrap up that project nicely.

Get the back end down level-ish to the front and throw on a 4wd active air dam and you might squeeze another half an MPG out of it. It hangs down about 3/4" lower than the 2wd version.

Lot of folks won't believe the highway mileage the 21-up F150s get in 2wd trim.

Yeah I can imagine those would certainly make a difference. Not going to go that route but it would be a pretty neat experiment for sure for somebody out there. Pretty amazing, my truck doesn't even weigh 5000 lb from the factory with the aluminum body. What a time to be alive haha

Cleaned up the truck from the road trip finally, she'll be going camping a few times this month.

Changed the oil for the second time at 5,098 mi. Everything looks great. Just need to sneak in a tire rotation here in the next week or so and should be good until next year for oil and tires.

Been working on my 2004 intermittently and it's up on jack stands the past few months. Couldn't squeeze my 2024 in comfortably next to it in the shop with the way I have my '04 angled to give myself more room.

Looking forward to wrapping up my complete front end overhaul around Thanksgiving. Just buying parts a few at a time, taking my time etc.
