It would be useful for you to state what you are driving for future reference to all of us. I do hope you can determine the cause and get fixed up.

Alright, it's a '21 xlt 3.5EB. Truck basically shut off after driving for ~30 minutes (mostly highway). Engine shut off. Truck was showing a bunch of codes. See video (sorry for out of focus)

You can't see it, but tach shows 800 rpm even though engine was off.

Clicking noises coming from under the hood near the battery

Did it resolve on its own or get towed to dealer or what?

Judging by all that activity looks like communication between modules isn't working. Issues with battery can cause weird issues similar to that but shouldn't happen when driving down road.

I had it towed to the dealer. So hopefully I hear something tomorrow.

Hopefully it is something simple to fix.
Let us know what you find out from dealer.

Just based off errors unrelated to the engine running like the blind spot sensors makes me think it's a communication issue of some sort. Everything is all connected on these trucks.

I'm hoping battery and not the ECU or something like that. A little worried that the labor issues will cause even more shortages. I'll update once it's resolved

Low voltage will cause lots of weird issues. I would think alternator put out enough power to keep the truck running though unless that is what failed.

As stated, low voltage will make things go haywire like this. A bad battery could easily be the root cause, but the circumstances this happened under are odd. My best guesses are a loose battery cable or electrical connection…..or possibly a rodent got into the engine compartment and chewed on some wiring.

Might be simple, might not. Wish you the best and following for what the dealer finds.

I had similar codes on mine in early July. But the truck never shut off and I could drive it as long as my swearing didn’t distract me too much.

mine was a bad APIM that the dealer replaced and then performed updates. It is also a 2021 XLT with the 3.5. Prior to this incident the truck hadnt updated in a long long time. It was stuck where a lot of early 2021’s get stuck.

after a few weeks at the dealership and changing vacation plans (it is our camper tow vehicle) it was resolved. It’s been a few months and truck is normal and geting Updates again.

my guess is bad APIM.

Interesting on the apim. I had an update go through a couple of weeks ago, but obviously could have gone bad after that point.

Hi there, I'd be happy to look into your F-150 concerns on my end. Will you send us a message with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into things on my end.

@Mani I suggest working with local dealer before getting the above tech support script readers involved. They can just complicate your issue and piss off local dealer. Ford support is great though if local dealer is being an ass.

That was my plan. Wanted to see root cause and corrective action first
