I never leave home without it. https://www.obdlink.com/products/obdlink-mxp/

FORScan Lite for mobile is available in the Apple and Android stores.
I bought one in 2021 for 89 dollars, before they cost 139 haha. I just never thought of leaving it in my car until today. I’ve never been stranded by a car until today!

Not a good idea to disconnect the starter battery if you have a Powerboost. PBs have a small auxiliary battery under the rear passenger seat which continues to supply power when the starter battery is disconnected. All you’re doing is draining that small battery and you could damage it if you let it discharge completely. Then you have something else to fix.
Dealer service recommended disconnect.
I had waited 20+ minutes for the display to go blank- no good.
marakjk waited 2hr
I agree- there needs to be a reboot for this big computer truck like ctrl-alt-delete
I ordered the OBDLink MX+, but don’t know how it will start my truck
ICE idle/charge and lock doors should not hurt
Also, I will be sure to have foot solidly on brake and disengage Parking Brake AFTER Ready

Your dealer’s service advisor is an idiot.

Jeb
Don’t run on dealer as much as me.
I waited twice (>20min each)for the display screens to go blank- no start, locked in full accessory power.
I have no idea how long to wait or indications for ability to start.
I was down to 2 options- disconnect battery to attempt reset or tow. I was desperate.
I had already connected battery and started truck when dealer called back.
I probably implied too much emphasis on their support of my actions.

No. I think you fairly get a pass. You have a ‘23 Powerboost. It’s new to you. You are still getting familiar with it and learning that it’s quite a bit different than other vehicles you have owned. But Powerboosts are in in their third model year. Your dealer should have known better that: (a) disconnecting the battery wouldn’t work on a PB because of the aux battery; and (b) letting the aux discharge enough to power down your systems could drain and damage it. It was their job to know better and they failed.

There's an inexpensive device that takes 2 minutes to install and it allows you to see your battery's static voltage when the truck is asleep and unmolested.
It also logs the battery voltage 24/7/365, allowing you to view what is going on with the battery historically.

It's Bluetooth and so you don't even have to get close enough to the truck to trigger a proximity event, which will drop the voltage as much as 3/10's of a volt immediately.

The smartphone app looks like this:
(note the timestamp. It's right now. I opened the app and the truck is parked just outside the RV, so Bluetooth is no issue)

Here is the history in 24 hour blocks.
Note that the data for this graph is automatically downloaded into the app, so you can review it without being connected to the truck.
Today. Wherever you slide your finger it will render the the voltage and timestamp

Above reveals that I have not driven the truck today. I haven't even approached it or opened the door.

Below is yesterday

Red = commute to office
Yellow = commute home
Blue = me opening the door last night after 9pm to fetch something from the truck.

If you slide before/after the door opening event, you will note that simple task cost the battery .05 unrecoverable Volts.

Below is a 7 day view

At a glance you can tell that my daily commute is consistent and repetitive. (parallel to my daughter's proclamation that her dad is boring and predictable)

I'll leave it up to the experts on whether my factory battery is healthy or not, but it is my opinion that it is healthier than many that I see here on the forum.
But it's NOT as healthy as it should be at only one year in service (377 days on Monday, to be nerdy exact)

(Interesting fact. Today is the anniversary date for the delivery of this truck to me after a 6 month wait. 382 days in service today indicates the truck came ALIVE 17 days earlier.)

Anyways, I don't trust the dealerships to declare our battery health enough to just take their word for it.

Once I see this battery unable to maintain a 12.2-12.3V static charge over a couple of days sitting unused, or unable to suffer a few between drives (charges) door openings or proximity responses, I'm replacing it.

These trucks beat on the 12V battery. And Ford's very conservative charging algorithm doesn't lend to a long life, in my opinion.

Device is $25

I think it's a no Brainer for these trucks. At least you can KNOW, and effortlessly, what your battery health is and if it's trending into the danger zone.

I've rescued mine a few times with an overnight charge. It's keeping it's head above water well enough for me not to throw in the towel and put a better battery in it. But it's treading on thin ice with me. Lol

First time I catch it at 12.1xVolts, it's coming out. So 12.2-12.3V is it just daring me.
