Towing: what do you see in your camp grounds

@redline I'm a couple hours north of you. We usually head north or east to camp.

Seems I see a pretty even split of GM / Ford / Ram half tons. Few Tundras. Never see Titans.

Mayyybe a few more F150's but, that could just be that I tend to notice them more.

Same with HD trucks. Seems to be a fairly even split maybe a few more Ram's.

We do see a lot of various makes / models of vehicles for those who tent camp.

Our last trip, the loop was small. Thinking back, there were 3 F150's including my own, a half ton Denali, a Honda Odyssey, Honda Pilot, 2 Tacomas, 3500 crew cab long box GMC, Class B Sprinter and that's all I can remember out of the 12 sites in our loop....

If you stay at campgrounds in the U.S. forests you will find mostly RVs that are shorter than 30 feet. Those with longer RVs need to stay at private campgrounds like the KOA ones.

When making long trips I would keep count of the trucks pulling 5th wheel trailers and 80% of them were SRW and 20% were DRW trucks.

A big factor in my buying a 2011 SRW Chevy Duramax was the much superior integration of the factory exhaust brake and grade control as compared to Ram and Ford. It also helped that in 2011 the GM/Chevy trucks had the strongest frames. GM went to fully boxed frames which Ram did in 2013 for its 3500 trucks and in 2014 for its 2500 trucks and Ford finally did for its 2016 trucks.

Good to see another fellow Albertan. I'm 2 hours east of you and do most of our camping north. I would agree pretty even split on the big 3 for half tons.

Now that I am on vacation with the trailer, I find I need to keep my mind on something other than work. As I walk the dog around the camp ground, just having look at everyone’s set ups.

I noticed something about the trucks doing the towing in the HD space it is pretty even split between the 3 domestics but in the 1/2 ton space my guesstimate is about 5:1 ford over the other two domestic brands and a Toyota or Nissan is rare find.

maybe Canadian camping rednecks love a ford 1/2 ton , I got to say mine is pretty sweet tow machine , what do you see in campgound near you ?

Hello from Alberta as well! Im about 5 hours northeast of you. Can't beat the F150 with 3.5 and max trailer tow for pulling a trailer!
