I have a 2021 Powerboost XLT with the stock 18" wheels and the stock Goodyear Wrangler Territory AT 275/65 R18 are currently mounted that came with the truck new. Just hit 40k miles, and just checked they are 4/32 so definitely time to be replaced (I know, should of replaced them 5,000+ miles ago). Going to stay with the stock wheels.

I tow my boat 1-2 times a week. The trailer + boat + gear on a good day it maybe weights 3,000lbs total. Truck is a pavement princess, I rarely go offroad, and when I do usually it's just a grated forest service road so I don't need some aggressive loud tires. However, I do want something that's decent in the snow, I have been caught on a mountain pass towing before (I fish year round). Wet traction is also important as it rains a lot here, but seems to be standard for any modern tire.

Should I go for a LT (E Rated) tire since I tow, or since it's such a low weight should I stick with a SL rated tire? Anything you can recommend is appreciated. I don't have a defined budget, but also don't want to spend more than is needed. I've looked at Michelin Defender LTX M/S2, Cooper Discover ATP II, Yokohama Geolander A/T G015

Thanks in advance!

With E rated tires one needs to have a source for 80 PSI air pump. I ended up buying a 12v Viair pump for my E-rated tires on my 2500 truck. Standard LT tires are fine and much easier with tires designed to work at 35 PSI and a softer ride.

Check the places like America's tire store to see the ratings for the tires for snow use. In general the best tires are ones that allow the vehicle to float over the surface and not dig down as with an aggresive mud tire tread.

I think you'll be fine with SL tires. My trailer is about 4300 lbs and so far so good with the same stock tires you are using. E rated tires may help more if conditions are especially windy or to decrease sway and porpoising. I'm on the fence about whether to go to e rated tires when mine wear out.

Highly recommend those Michelins for your use. They're awesome. The Yokohamas look cool though and are supposed to be good in snow.

the answer is always defenders , with 50 psi in them is good enough for any trailer that a f150 can pull

I'd stick with SL/XL rated tires. There's really nothing the F150 is capable of doing that the XL rated tires can't handle. The lightning has a 8550lb GVWR and doesn't use Es.

I would go with the Michelins unless U want a more aggressive looking tire. I like the way the BFG Trail Terrains look for a light duty AT that won't hurt Ur mileage and are quiet.
