So I enabled the auto hold feature on my 2023 STX which holds the brakes for you at a stop. I forgot to put the truck into park before shutting off and to my surprise the column shifter puts itself into Park!!!

Yep, the console shifter does the same thing. Rather cool and it caught me off guard one night.

Did you have your seat belt fastened?
I think that's a determining factor.

Both shifters are 'drive by wire' as in they're not connected to anything. When I removed the center console shifter I was surprised at how heavy that damn thing was. I use auto hold as well in both vehicles. You can also pull into a spot and turn the truck off and it will go into park and apply the parking brake. I'm 50/50 of actually 'parking' the shifter. In the MME I just pull and shut the vehicle off. I think I've put it in park maybe 4 times ever. The auto parking brake is nice, I usually put the nose or ass within inches of something.

With the MME, you can't even drive with the door open unless you physically hold the parking brake off which is a bit annoying. You have to open door, put into R/D and hold brake off for it to move.

I think it does it either way but I don’t wear seatbelt often

over 40 yrs of driving manuals and shutting truck off before it stops rolling, this turns out to be quite beneficial to me.

I could be mistaken, but if your seat belt is fastened you should be able to open your door and creep forward/backward.

I'll verify and eat some crow if that's not accurate. :)

You are probably right! Like i said i usually am not belted in until i’m driving down the road and the dinging makes me and enough to put it on!

It's been a while since I had auto hold turned on. I ended up turning it off because I didn't like the jerk motion I felt when pressing my foot on the gas again when at a light or stop sign. I felt like I was easy on the gas but you would of thought I was heavy footed. Has any updates over the past year made the transition from auto hold to pressing the gas smoother?

Nope. Was stopped yesterday at a red light and opened the door to spit (auto hold, seat belt engaged) and the truck shifted itself into park.

Similar for me. I prefer to have it off, so when I release the brake, I know the truck will creep forward with the engine idling.
