Wanted to start off and mention this isn't any sponsorship or paid advertising. I reached out to Talons Garage after seeing their coming soon for the new skid plate made directly for the powerboost trucks and they asked for anyone to contact them as they needed beta testers. I reached out and was accepted to help out. Got a discount and free shipping for helping out, which I was ready to pay full and the shipping so high five to them.
As of right now they sell a skid plate for all models, the only difference when attaching to a powerboost truck is you need to buy adapters to make it work. You can see on their site pictures of how they are attached and also see its not much metal there. The new one now goes from cross member to cross member for full coverage.
After unpacking it you can feel how sturdy it is, built to take some hits and keep the rest of the truck unharmed. One thing that's a noticeable difference from the older skid plate is this new one curves up further on the sides. Where you mount on the front side of the truck the holes are now open on one side making it a lot easier to slide in with the two factory bolts lossened rather than removing them completely to place back. The other two longer bolts for the rear side fit right up into the cross member, one hole is blocked off with some heat shielding that you just poke through for it to fit. I worked off some jack stands but using a lift would make it a lot easier, which is a no brainer. .
I'm really happy with the coverage and protection now, mainly got it for keeping the thieves off my catalytic converters but road debris and other things won't fly up into that area now. After talking with Talons Garage they mentioned they are very close to releasing the new powerboost skid plate. If you want it for off-road, catalytic coverage, or just protection in general I highly recommend getting one once its available.
