Hey,

Looking for some advice on trying to recover apim that can't boot up. I had a very stable system that had been keeping up with OTAs. I have some mechanical recalls and warranty work at the dealer. I asked them to load test the battery since it had all the signs of a bad battery. It failed(The multi hour test) and they replaced it/reset the BMS. Since I left the dealer sync would only boot up to the Ford logo then freeze. I have done multi drives since then and it's the same thing. Occasionally it will freeze a black screen. There was a pending OTA on that same day and wondering if removing battery during that time was the problem. I read on here I should ask here before brining it back to the dealer since it was working fine before that and to do power button and next for 10 seconds which does reset it but just back to the Ford logo then frozen. Anything else I can try?

Edit: you already tried Power and seek forward

I will step aside and let others try to help.

Might be a trip back to the dealer and say this worked before and now doesn't.

I did send them a message so they are aware, just wanted to see if there is something I can try so they don’t break it even more. I was getting OTAs near the top of the list for a 21 so hope I don’t loose that.

I was curious if you figured out the cause and fix for this frozen screen. Same thing happened to me today. Had the battery replaced at the dealer. They could not get the screen to unfreeze from the Ford logo after resetting the BMS. They tried to reset it twice with no results and told me to let the truck sit outside for at least 8 hours and check tomorrow. I’m giving it the night to see what happens but curious on your findings.
Thank you in advance.

The easiest thing to try is disconnecting the positive terminal of the battery for 30 minutes. I say positive to eliminate the possibility of a "rogue" ground somewhere other than the battery connection to frame ground.

This will have the effect of rebooting all modules, to see if the APIM (SYNC screen) is more or less likely to be the issue.

Well I came outside this morning after letting the truck sit locked for 12 hours and confirmed everything reset and the screen is no longer frozen.

My interior lights are now functioning correctly and the auto start/stop is now functioning properly as well (those two things stopped working which was the reason I got the battery replaced)

Everything seems to be back to normal now.

A guess would be
Truck door was open, and maybe radio was on when they disconnected the old battery, most likely the ground 1st.
Then sync went nuts and pulled a windows...

Most good shops have a tool to keep systems alive when battery is pulled so all the weirdness is averted
But it's like a mystery tool and they forget to use it
