My 2021 Powerboost (VIN: 1FTFW1ED0MFB28588) is at Sync version 22177 product revision 473.
The website for Ford Pass says my VIN has automatic sync updates and map updates available.
But, my truck believes no updates are available.

I've tried with wifi on and off, and in both cases checking for updates doesn't find anything to download.
I believe SYNC 4 Version: 22293_PRODUCT Revision: 610 should be available.

When I call Ford Sync support they say I need to take my truck into the dealer to get it updated. So, essentially the over the air update system doesn't work.

Does anyone have a workaround that would let me download these updates and get them installed without having to schedule a dealership visit?

Thanks!

I also have the same version as you and I received a failed OTA update message in fordpass yesterday. Did you dig into this anymore? I have a service appointment on Tuesday trying to figure this out. My last OTA update was October last year.

I did. What I can say is that now, my 2021 F150 has Ford Power Up 3.5 3 with android auto full screen. But, how I got there isn't clear.

When I called Ford Sync supprt they acknowledged, based on my VIN, that I should get this uodate, and that others have had this problem and that to resolve it you essentially have to take the truck into the dealet and get the software update installed through FDRS. Essentially, they hook up by ODBII port and download the update directly from Ford.

I booked an appointment with a dealer. It took them 8 hours to install an update, I waited all day. After the updates were installed I checked and my software was exactly the same version as before. I showed this to the dealer (thinking at the time I wasted the entire day for this) so hr was nice enough to open a case with Ford.

Ford took about three weeks to respond. I had sent.my dealer screenshots and links showing them the Ford Power Up version page on Wikipedia to make the argument that I should have it. I also pointed out the turn by turn direction bug on the dashboard thinking that maybe this is fixed at the same time. What I got back from Ford was very vague and didn't appear to show thought around my specific truck. It was just generalities.

Then, out of nowhere my truck started downloading updates. Over the course of about 3 weeks I was getting big updates about once a week. Suddenly I can use the rear camera during high speed travel. And then I got the full screen android update like 2 days ago.

So, did Ford fix a faulty roll out or did my dealer unblock the OTA updates through a reinstall? Who knows... it's scary that nobody knows.

It's not that nobody knows.
This forum has everything regarding this issue documented in incredible detail. Although I will admit that at this point in time it can be a daunting task to digest all the information.

Or put another way, the now infamous FDRS thread is huge!

The fact that your truck is receiving OTA updates now, regardless of the pace, is verification that your 2021 build was successfully updated beyond a certain APIM-Sync version that is labeled "OTA Purgatory"

Those unfortunate enough to be at that specific Sync version can't get beyond it without intervention by a dealership or a truck owner that purchases an FDRS license and manually gets the truck past that Sync version. It can be a bear to update.

Here's the thread. Post #1 pretty much lays out what is required to address the problem yourself.

And apologies, I intended to say it was scary my dealer and Ford didn't know, but unfortunately my I stopped the the thought early as I was typing on my cell phone, which admittedly, I suck at. Still, your link is great, thanks again.

The "check for updates" button doesn't work like your phone or computer. It will only display something if an update has been made available for your vehicle. Other than the APIM/Sync update to add Alexa, most updates are small enough that they'll be downloaded and applied before you have a chance to hit that button and see something in progress.

Don't go by the FP website. It always says that. The box in the lower right of the screen shows the sync stuff. The above has always been there since I can remember.

13 FX2 But work on many 21+ F150s
I just performed all available updates using FDRS on a 22 Raptor yesterday and the version it has now, after the update is 23031_PRODUCT Revision 713.
