I came out of a restaurant this evening to find my truck in 4 High. The 2WD light was on but the tires were chirping and bucking when turning corners. I pulled into a parking lot and shifted into 4 High then back to 2 high to no avail. I also backed up with no change. Has anybody had this happen? Should it be towed to the dealer or will it hurt it to drive? It's been 5 months since I used 4 Hi but I have noticed some hard downshifts lately. Could that be related?
Any advice is appreciated.

I had the Differential Lock Motor go bad on the left front wheel and it would not switch into 4HI, 4AUTO. But then it would go into 4HI/4AUTO. Once replaced, not an issue.

The issue was the dealer, it was a warranty part, but they could not locate. I locaked at White Bear lake, purchased, and thety charged me to install. But at least I got it fixed.

The E-locker dashboard icon looks something like one of these. It’s super easy to accidentally hit, IMO; it’s in a really stupid spot.

Also, most manufacturers recommend ‘exercising’ the 4X4 once a month to keep both the electronic shift on the fly actuator for the transfer case drive modes from getting stuck in one position and also to help lubricate the various bearings and other parts that don’t rotate when the four wheel drive system isn’t activated.

Good luck! Hopefully it’s user error.
