There's a hole in the wheel well that I dropped mine through. When I installed the fender liners that hole accepts a plastic plug for said liners so I drilled a hole down the center of that plug and threaded the string back through.

Found this string with rubber end cap hanging down from the front of the driver's side rear wheel well. It's just under the fuel door.

Any idea what it might be? Trunk details in signature.

Thanks for any assistance!
I just took delivery of a 2022 Lariat PowerBoost and have the same string hanging in the drivers rear wheel well.

Has anyone actually used it to successfully open the fuel door? The owners manual doesn't mention pulling a string to open the fuel door in an emergency, but instead refers to a plastic tool stored with the jack.

Mine has a button to the left of the steering wheel - perhaps it's a PowerBoost specific setup.
You must have a TAMPON 500 pace truck!!!!!. You have to pull alotta strings to get one of those! LOL just kidding. I also think its supposed to be a fuel door opening backup from what ive seen on forum

I’m sure everyone already figured it out but it does in fact release the fuel door when yanked hard enough. Now, what’s the best way to hide the string and save us from the embarrassing comments in public?!
