Very very useful information. One quick question. I am going on a trip soon with family. Would I be ok putting a few suitcases in the back just with these straps, bungees and ratchets without a cover?

As long as you don't do any Dukes of Hazard driving. ?

There is not much turbulence in the bed of a pickup. Put them up against the cab, throw a ratcheting bar behind them and drive wherever you need to.

I do it all the time. Just be cautious of bad weather. For that, I keep some extra construction grade trash bags to put the suitcases in. Then I use bungee or ratchet straps to keep the bags from flapping so they won't develop holes in the bags.

Do you use ratchet bars? I am on my way to harbor freight to pick up ratchet bar and ratchet straps.

I have a package called box link cleats. What do I do with this? Also I have a number of lug nuts kind of items inside my dash. Anyone know what to do with them?

Those go in the bed as another spot to tie down. There is spots in the bed wall to insert those

You have locking lug nuts. Those are the ones replaced with the lock. The other thing is the lock for the locking lugs

No. They put locking lugs on your wheels. If you go look you will see the one locking style. The bed cleats are for you to put on if you want to put on

You add the box link cleats yourself. There should be a key with them so they can’t be removed. I have a spray in bedliner and the ford rubber bed mat. I also have an assortment of bungee cords, ratchet straps and other ways to secure what I have in the bed. Which I choose depends on the load I’m carrying.

How did you get the rubber mat and from where? Also I see you have a cover. Can I live without a cover for some time? I just purchased a ratcheting bar and two ratchet straps and two cam straps from Harbor freight. I also have a spray in bed liner. Did you find this useful?

No. They put locking lugs on your wheels. If you go look you will see the one locking style. The bed cleats are for you to put on if you want to put on

On the photo I sent did you see a key? I suppose I have to preserve it carefully.

Yes it’s the one one the bottom of lug nuts. Keep it in your glove box. You have 4 that look a like and one odd one that’s the key.
