Hey guys, I’m a little aggravated and wanted to reach out to the brain trust. I’ve got a 2021 Ford F150 Platinum with 40,000 miles on it. I have the extended Ford warranty. The truck is never been off road. In early December, I was driving my truck when a car pulled out in front of me. I hit the brakes and steered my truck to the right to avoid the other car. When I tried to drive straight, my steering wheel was cocked 90° to the direction of travel. I pulled over, into a parking lot to try to diagnose the problem. I turned the truck off. When I turned it back on the steering wheel straightened itself up. After that, when the steering system was under any load like turning it, low speed, the steering wheel would turn 20° to 90° without the wheels following. I limped it to the local dealership. My service writer drove the truck, and after having the tech diagnose it, he said, the steering wheel was stripped. He said that the replacement steering wheel was on backorder with no ETA.
It’s been in the shop for over a month now.
I did start a case/complaint with Ford customer service. The rep I got is less than helpful.
Has anyone heard of this issue? I know that there was a Service bulletin or a recall for a similar issue on a handful of trucks that year, but mine was not included on the recall. I’ve been Ford guy my, whole life, and we have four newer Ford vehicles at home. I’m really disappointed in Ford’s customer service.
Does anybody have a suggestion on who I could reach out to that might be a little more help?
