I have a 2021 Lariat with power fold tow mirrors.
I've noticed that when the weather gets warm, the mirrors start to squeak when the fold open/closed.
In cold weather, they don't squeak, but one does seems to open a little faster than the other.
Perhaps the plastic is expanding when the weather gets warm, which is causing rubbing/squeaking?
Has anyone else experienced this and is there a fix for this annoying issue?
Maybe my standards are too high, but I don't think an $80k truck should squeak when the mirrors fold in/out.

P.S. I tried searching this forum for others that have had this issue, but wasn't able to find much on this topic.

I have a 2022 PB with tow mirrors and they sqeak when opening and closing.. Not the best sound when I have friends getting in the truck and the mirrors sqeak..

So I am also curious about how to mitigate this.. I doubt a spray lubricant is a good option.. As they would leave grease marks.. Graphite powder?

I have used silicon spray directed between the moving parts , both upper and lower. It has helped to remove the squeak, needs repeating after awhile but it does help. Using the spray tube on the can is also a good idea

My driver side has always been slower, and increasingly, it doesn't fold or unfold all the way. I have to press the button 2-3 times on occasion. And yes, it has started to squeak. I'm past my manf. warranty period so I figure I'd ride it out till it stops working and use my extended warranty.

Is the silicone spray oily? Does it gather dust?

Mine have squeaked since I've picked up the truck in October 2021. I just ignore it. lol Seems their tolerances were a little tight.

I have the same squeaking problem with my 2023 Platinum. It was happening in cold weather as well as not as cold weather. I haven't tried lubrication yet. It may be improving over time as the mirrors get broken in. I'd be interested in a fix as well. The Ford rep that called back about another issue suggested olive oil but I'm pretty sure she was joking. :)

Hard to say. If any spray is on the visible black part of the mirror , wipe it clean with a micro cloth. I use silicone spray on the rubber window seals and other parts in the engine bay and I don’t really see any dust.

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.

Good description of the problem. My mirrors squeaked and the driver side failed to consistently deploy last summer (when 1 month old). Started happening again this summer when >90 degrees.
Was nervous about spraying anything, and the dealership immediately recommended replacing the mirrors completely under warranty (this was back when that would have many taken months, and was obviously silly).

Let me know any specific pointers about where / how to spray. Otherwise, I'll give it a shot.

I have had that issue with my 21 platinum since new. I think the dealer has changed the driver mirror 2-3 times and the passenger at least once. They still sound bad.

I am past my warranty at this point, but it didn't seem to do any good with swapping. Figured I would just run them till they quit.

I have had the same problem to the point the driver's side mirror will not always deploy. I sprayed WD40 using the tube and it worked but had to be reapplied all the time. I have since sprayed Lithium Grease in there and it has solved the problem. Was a little messy at first but after wiping it with a cloth it is no longer noticeable. I am concerned about dirt collecting with the grease but time will tell, anything is better than having to manually push the mirrors out.

The dealer looked at it and told me it was the door switch not allowing it to deploy. I knew better and told them to not replace the switch.
