I'm ordering a 2024 single cab short bed in 2 wheel drive and I KNOW the factory 17" steelies and tires have to go. I haven't had a truck in over a dozen years and since I'm in Florida snow is not a issue but wet traction is. I don't particularly like the 22" 'look' and am leaning towards 18" wheels like the 1998-2004 Lighting. But AM open up to 20's. I've started looking at factory take offs mainly because of cost factors. Actual many factory rims look great but on a 2 wheel drive tires are critical. I won't be drag racing and don't want to kill my gas mileage by buying a large heavy all terrain tire.
What do yall think might be a good street light (light) trail tire? Noise IS a big factor to me as years ago I put Mud Terrain tires on a little 4×4 SUV and it was a big mistake lolol!
Price of the tires is not a big factor. Buy once cry once..

I just picked up a set of raptor takeoffs 17” for 660 bucks on eBay.

In my opinion every other truck I see has the standard 18” or 20” rims. I wanted something with a punch!

Originally I was set on getting the 20” sport rims to match my grey truck then found that these were an option and 200 bucks cheaper

That exact wheel is one I'm thinking about! I'm ordering a Carbonized Gray XL and I think they would work well..

You will not regret it it’s the best colour in my opinion here’s my rig - really looking forward to swapping out the crappy 17” factory rims that look 20 years old

If noise and wet traction are your biggest concerns, I would look at the Continental TerrainContact A/T and Continental TerrainContact H/T tires. They both advertise class leading wet braking, and Tire Rack's independent testing showed the same results. Tire Rack's testing also showed that both tires offered class leading average cornering g-force in wet conditions.

I fix software bugs!
I would look at the Continental TerrainContact A/T
I switched to these after several bouts with same size Nitto RG and BFG TKO. Very nice ride, look nice, low noise, no odd moaning or drumming in the cab, handle well, meets factory payload capacities, etc.

I am going for a different look which I always try to do. I want 17" police-style rims (black with chrome hub caps) with red line tires. So far no luck because of the 6 studs bolt pattern. I have looked everywhere so far.

Have you thought about using factory steel wheels with the center caps linked below? They aren't chrome, but if the brushed aluminum finish isn't close enough you could probably paint them. The price listed for the center caps is really high on Amazon, but they seemed to have the best picture.

Michelin defenders great traction on wet, dry roads and even dirt trails. Good ride and lasts long. Rubber stays black and does good in the TX sun so should be a good FL tire.

They are very popular around my neck of the woods too. I had one tire seller tell me that I couldn’t use the Mich/Conti’s on dirt roads ? I’ve been on plenty of fire roads to get to motocross trails without as much as a side wall rash afterwards, but also know I can’t ride over giant pointy rock's…
