I’ve been noticing for a while that when you shut the truck off. Sound system off and the main screen powered down that every so often you can hear a slight pop from the speakers as if they are still “on”.

It happens when you turn the truck off without getting out or just go back to the truck and sit in it. About 20 seconds of silence then an ever so faint pop.

My hearing is supposedly incredibly good from hearing tests and the dealer of course can’t hear it. But if you’re on a silent street or in a garage it’s definitely noticeable.

Anyone else?
And if so, I can’t imagine this isn’t contributing to battery drain.

There's some 60-80 different computer modules in the PB. Many of these will stay powered for up to 90 minutes after key-off. So the slight pop sound you're hearing is likely from the APIM or stereo module powering down. The only real solution is to ignore it as there's nothing you can do to change this behavior and associated drain. Well aside from keeping a maintainer on it or putting larger batteries in it.

What you can do to though is consider adding an additional 12v 20-30AH lithium battery in line to the aux battery under the rear seat. Ford used a tiny 7.5AH AGM battery back there to help provide reserve 12v supply after shutdown to prevent excessive drain on the the primary battery, but due to it's tiny reserve time it will quickly become depleted. This is especially true if you do a lot of short trips and do not give the system ample time to charge the 12v system. Look up the Testing an Aux battery thread about it. You can also try replacing the stock H7 battery for an H8 if you can manage to get it to fit as well as replacing the stock 7.5AH aux battery with an AUX14. Most of the AUX14 AGM batteries have between a 12-16AH reserve on them. Last thing you can do is go into the BCM module with Forscan and change the default battery SOC from 80% to 95-100%.

Yes mine was doing the same. I just updated all the modules with fdrs last week and I think it's fixed.

My speakers have been popping for almost 2 years. I asked on the question on here before and I was told it was because I was too close with the fob. No, it's not the noise you here when you walk up to the truck with the key fob, it's definitely the speakers making a loud noise. I had my wife drive away with the fobs. and the problem still happens.

Speaker problem started after the dealer replaced my battery in Nov. 2023 because of the dreaded "low state of charge". They replaced the battery and the Audio module. They said the audio system was draining the battery. Speaker pop started after the Audio module/battery replacement. No other problems since, so I just put up with the speaker noise. I'm sure the dealer will not find a problem If I report it.

I recently noticed the same thing except the popping noise is not quiet (not loud either) and I can hear it outside the truck. I was sitting in it doing some cleaning and noticed the popping noise after a few minutes. I pops every minute or two for several minutes and then stops.

Keep in mind that speakers have an electric coil as part of their assembly. A coil will attempt to maintain its input voltage when that voltage is removed. This generates a brief pulse as the magnetic field collapses. Its an inherent characteristic of coils to do this. Usually they're designed to minimize the sound produced.

Thanks for this write up. While I understand what you’re saying it’s really annoying, especially when you’re trying to have a nap or something in the truck.

If I turn it off turn yourself off. Weird logic.
