Wonder if that's why a dealer won't install a plow. I would think all you'd have to do is remove it.

I can't believe a $50 optional plow prep package can't be installed after the build. Is a f150 going to be totaled if it has a dash fire and the plow prep wiring harness can't be replaced. It's probably a computer download anyway. I've called the dealer and Ford Motor Company and can't get a answer. Any Ford persons know someone at Ford who can help me. Or anyone know what part numbers I need to add this function? This makes no sense.
It's a lot more than a "computer download".

It's an entire 50 amp circuit wired directly into your factory fuse panel with a harness under your dash to tap in your Snow Plow power.

WHY the harness is NOT behind the grill instead of under the dash is beyond me. Maybe someone who has installed a Snow Plow can explain. Penetrating the firewall to run a wire capable of handling 50 amps sounds like quite a pain in the ass.

It NEVER snows where I live and I have no intention of ever installing a snow plow but for $50.00 …it seemed like a “no-brainer”!

The only reason I can think of for why it’s not available from Ford as an after-build add on is the Fuse Panel aspect. It’s likely a completely different fuse panel and who would want to go through the trouble of replacing THAT?!!

Well I decided to have installed a Snowdogg MDII. They offer a wiring harness for a 2021/22 1/2 ton light duty truck with LED lights and without the snow plow prep package. The toggle switches for the lights can be replaced with black rocker switches that will match my other switches and mount nearly out of sight on the lower left side of the dash. This will work out fine as I only maintain my own private drive. The active air dam will be removed and I just had a leveling kit installed. They also offer a back drag blade that will assist up by my garage doors. Getting installed shortly.

****Anyone with a plow.

Whenever you are in plow mode; can/does your hvac stay in recirculate indefinitely?

Asking for millions of F-150 owners, lol.

I think you're better off going that route anyway.
Although, I've read (but never been able to confirm) that the Snow Plow option also upgrades the alternator. But I think you'll know pretty quickly if your alternator isn't keeping up.
