Another way off topic here.

Any wood workers on here? I have a small shop in my downstairs that my Dad painted with a gloss floorpaint. Looks great but it is treacherous when I'm standing at the lathe and turning.
With the shavings and sawdust it is like walking on ice.

Since I don't care so much what a concrete floor looks like in a shop I was thinking about putting down some CA glue in stripes and sprinkling it with sand.

Does anyone think this would work? Would it even stick? Just trying to make it safer for my back that doesn't like the sudden slips.
I tried some mats but the shavings get underneath them and then I'm standing on a surfboard.

Also, trying to do this on the cheap. I know I could repaint and put grit in the paint but for now looking for a quick fix.

Maybe try cleaning the floor and putting down strips of self adhesive abrasive strips made for stairs and ramps to add grit and grip? Shavings should not get under them and they have pretty strong adhesive.

I thought of those but I figured the floor would have to be really clean and it's cold right now so might affect adhesion.

Plus I already have the glue and sand from other projects.

If it's too cold for adhesion of the abrasive strips, wouldn't that also affect glue adhesion?

You could also try using sandpaper to rough up the area in question. Normally I wouldn't recommend tearing up a finished area, but if you're already considering gluing down sand...

I've just never had good luck getting those strips to stick to anything. Although I did get some 3m brand one time and they stuck to an aluminum trailer that I had prepped with alcohol.

CA glue (super glue) will stick to about anything I just don't know if it reacts with paint and then the paint would peel up with the sand stuck to it!

Guess time to just experiment. As far as sanding, if you knew me you'd see I'm not a hands and knees crawl around on the floor kind of guy! (read super sized) lol

You can go the other way around and get a good set of Vibram soled boots/shoes. My logger boots get amazing traction on oily steel just as well as they would on wet logs.

Then just make sure that you sweep up a lot, so that you’re not slipping on marbles:

Might have solved the problem; though I do think they make a non-slip product line for restaurant use.
