Looking for help designing custom solar mount solution and hoping I can brainstorm with folks on here.

My goal: To mount a flexible solar panel onto the top of my f150 topper as low as possible while still having some airflow beneath it so it won’t overheat. My hope is that it won’t be visible from the ground.

Context: I have factory installed roof rails installed on my A.R.E topper but no cross bars. I’m trying to avoid those since they stick out quite high.

Idea: After doing some research it looks like I just need some t slot bolts or the Yakima landing pad 1 hardware kit.

Would love to create a solution that I can remove the end caps of the roof rails, and quickly slide the panel on or off the rails. I think I just need the t bolts connected to a simple metal cross bar. From there I can drill holes that line up with the mounting holes on the panels themselves. I could also add a thin metal sheet or some sort of thick plastic sheet the size of the solar panel for rigidity.

Has anyone done anything similar or have any idea that might be better? TIA
