I just recently replaced my factory wheels and tires with Fuel 20X9 (20mm offset) and 295/60R20 Recon grapplers on my 21’ F150 Platinum. While the truck rides really smooth, I am a little disappointed with the road noise. First time to ever have after market wheels of this size but curious if anyone experiences the same. Totally get the AT tires are more aggressive than stock but still much louder than I expected. Is it the tire or the fact the tire and wheel sits outside the wheel well?

It’s the tire tread design foremost. Increased size in your case also impacts it a small amount. I’ve had many different brands and sizes. Fwiw, I’m back to stock sizes and street friendly tires because I spend a fair amount of time on the highway.

99% likely it's the tires, IMO.

I've been hit more than once by increased road noise when changing from OE tires, in spite of "these are quiet" ratings from various vendor websites and reviews.

You can keep the 20” wheels. Just go for a lesser aggressive tire. (More Street than off-road). I have 22” wheels on current truck and it is very quiet inside but I am running a street tire.
