Retractable running board issue

Has anyone else experienced inconsistent running board deployment? I have a ‘21 KR PB that has that issue. Most often, it is when my wife is entering the passenger side, and the running board retracts when I close the driver door and does not deploy when she opens the passenger door. On occasion, the driver’s side does not deploy when the door opens. A few times, it retrcted as I was getting in or retracted halfway. Also, I have rubbed the rubber completely off the chrome where I step up and rotate to get in the driver’s seat. Any fix?
Thanks in advance for any tips. I trust you guys a lot more than I do my sorry dealer on diagnosing issues.

Clean the hinges really well, spray some WD-40 in the areas that move, and coat them in fluid film.

Yup lubricant is your friend in this situation. I normally spray ours with white lithium grease a few times a year. The spray version comes out very thin so I seems to get in there well and helps
