I ordered an XL on 3/26/2022 - since I didn't get many options I was told the wait wouldn't be too long. Other than the initial e-mail confirmation feel like I've been ghosted. Ze-ro contact. I got on the dealer's chat page, got an immediate call from a salesman who misunderstood and thought I was looking to buy. E-mailed the salesman who I ordered with, he responded but with no news. I feel like a sucker seeing the ads on TV that "new stock is arriving daily". I see many others who've been waiting much longer. Would it kill Ford to send us status updates? Don't they have PR people working there? I have no idea what's going on.

If you have not received an Order Confirmation email like the one below direct from [email protected] (check your spam folder!), among the possibilities are:
  • Your dealer failed to enter your email address on his order system with Ford, in which case you will not get any status updates direct from Ford
  • Your dealer has not actually submitted your order to Ford for processing
If you did get the initial Order Confirmation's email direct from Ford but have not received anything else since, then unfortunately that likely means you have not yet been scheduled for whatever reason (you won't get an update from Ford until they have progress to report).

The next email direct from Ford will be an estimated production date when that is known). Ford is not going to clutter your inbox with a string of emails saying: 'we are here and thinking of you but have nothing new to report'. IMO that's not lack of "respect", it's reasonable business practice and customer support.

Note there's no correlation between "a few options" and getting scheduled - it all depends on the details of your trim level and exactly what those "few options" are.

I suggest you get in direct contact with the salesperson who took your order and ask them to check their WBDO / VINCENT online system to tell you the status of your order; ask them to provide a screen-print of that if you have any doubt whatsoever about their credibility.

Good Luck.

Had the situation where the dealership entered the incorrect email address on initial order, thus no notifications from Ford. They can correct the email after the fact but you won't get future notifications. I requested my saleman to send me all emails from Ford. Not sure if done on purpose or not but I decided to go directly to Ford. Ford is where I received all my information (VIN, blend date, build date and ship date). When it was delivered, my sales guy told me it hadn't. I had to educate him that it was indeed delivered, time of delivery and who delivered. In all fairness to my salesman, he was not scheduled to work on the day it was delivered.

Keep checking dealer inventories around you, or expand your search, you might be able to find a truck with a config that will fit your needs.

Ford is slow on sending status, since they have no status updates for you. Depending on your config, you maybe waiting a long time.

I was luck to find a truck that fit my needs and canceled my 3 month order, that went no where.

I placed two F-150 orders back on February 25th. (XLT with BAP). Both orders are currently in the “order processing, waiting to be scheduled” category.

I check in with Ford chat every two weeks or so to check status. I don’t bother my dealer at all.

Yes I ordered 3/14 got confirmation very quickly. Nothing since, have used FORD CHAT and visited the dealer a few times no one has an update. I was also told keeping my order simple would most likely speed up the process. Here we are almost June and nothing. If FORD really thought anything of us waiting they would in my opinion update us but I guess they figure if our Truck comes in and we changed our minds someone else will quickly come along to buy it. This is my first new truck since my 97 F150 and I’m disappointed in both the dealer and FORD.
Well that’s my rant

You were misguided. I ordered an XL on 2/12/22. Took over 3 months to get a VIN and scheduled week.

And what update do you want exactly? No VIN. No build date email? You will get notified when you have a VIN. Nothing to report till then.

You know whats going on. Not scheduled yet.

It is your dealer's job to represent Ford, they have the most up-to-date info. If the salesman cant get you the latest Vehicle activity report, ask for the sales manager. Do not expect Ford to keep you updated.

Ordered 12/16/22 and got confirmation email that same day.
Updated 03/18/22 with email from ford basically apologizing for delay and thanking for patience
Updated 04/28/22 to say vehicle was scheduled for production week of 05/30/22

The last email includes a link to check status of build. The status changed earlier this week to in production.

I'm not trying to say their communication is great, I'm just trying to help people understand expected timelines. Evidently they will contact you if it gets to 3 months of delay.

Ford just doesn’t give a crap. I ordered an XLT on 10/29. Never received a build date-now 7 months. Gave up found a Lariat 150 miles from me. Picked it up 2 weeks ago. Wrote the top dogs at Ford a month ago, including the VP of customer satisfaction— no response. Must have gone in the round file. I can only assume my order is on a corrupt section of the hard drive.

I ordered a Lariat 502a on Jan 3 and it was delivered to the dealer exactly five months later on May 3. It was manufactured in Kansas City. I feel very fortunate when I read posts like this. There is no consistency with Ford at all. So disappointing for so many out there.

Ordered 12/15/21… got an email in March saying sorry for the delays and then at the end of April I started getting scheduled emails (followed weekly since then with delayed emails). My dealer told me it was going to take a while and offered to sell an inbound truck that was somewhat similar if I didn’t want to wait… I chose to wait for exactly what I wanted and am still waiting for it; but I did the research going in and knew/understood that with chip shortages and other logistical constraints it would take a good long while. Still sucks… and waiting isn’t fun… but you should be more irked with your dealer for telling you the whole “few options = short wait” bit because that’s just not how it goes and he/she should know that.
