I just purchased my Ford yesterday and would appreciate some information on the below.

1. What to do to protect the paint so that it looks new always with no scratches? Ceramic coating?
2. Tounneaux (is that how they spell it) cover and is it ok to choose DIY option to install?

The local guy is probably not selling a official Ford ESP and is selling a 3rd party. 3rd party ESP's are a total crap shoot and not something I would spend money on.

As stated in one of the many other threads you need to determine (estimate) how many miles a year you drive and base the warranty as an average of the number of years + miles driven a year, and that will determine what is best for you. ESP's expire at the end of the years you purchase, or the miles you purchase, whichever comes first. If you drive 20k miles a year getting a 10 year 100k miles ESP is about 5 years longer than you will need. At 20k miles a year you will hit the 100k miles at 5 years and the extra 5 years on that 10 year ESP, will be a waste. You need to balance these two variables.

Granger and a couple of the other ESP (Ford Premium Care) vendors sell official Ford ESP's and they are the lowest cost there is. I would not buy something else.

When people tell you "buy now or if you come back the price will be higher" you should just walk and never look back.

Now that the car purchase is over I wanted to explore this topic as whatever was stated before may have gone over my head in the frenzy of trying to find a truck.

I plan to do 12k miles a year. And ideally would you say since the current warranty goes for 3 years it's better to get 5 years on top of that? So, say 96k miles and a 8 year warranty?

anonymous1977 you might want to consider 'Enhanced First Day Rental' and if you have ever lost or damaged a key fob that too. If you got a high trim with LED's that coverage might be worth it.

Is this something additional to buy with extended warranty? Is it a separate add on on Granger website?

Yes it cost a little extra.. Enhanced gives you $60.00 instead of $40.00 per day for a rental. Here in Florida it's expensive to rent a vehicle. But the reason I am getting it is because a dealer is not absolutely required to give you a loaner by Ford during the 3-36 warranty. It's subject to 'availability' by the servicing dealer. Since my RCSB will be my only vehicle I need to KNOW if they ask me to drop off my truck to 'work it in' or while they wait for parts I have something to drive. Most dealers are really great about giving you a loaner but not all. I just don't want to argue with the service advisor about it lolol! Zero deductable for the same reason. When my wife thought she lost her keys I was shocked what Honda wanted for a new fob and programming.

I am trying to look up but Granger has only the quotes running across miles and years. Where do I find this other one you are referring?

This is my question as well. I'm having a hard time understanding why I have to purchase 8 years to get a 5-year extension.

The cost for those extras are based on the vehicle but they are usually in the $60 - $80 range for the entire warranty. If you get a higher level truck with LED lighting, then getting the LED lighting add on is worth it IMO. LED light assemblies are expensive, and it is not just "changing a bulb" anymore. Often the entire unit gets replaced.
