I have 2024 and added the OE power fold/extend tow and the spot lights still work. My thing is I don’t have the extend plug and I have the platinum with the 702A package. I even took the door panel off to see if the plug fell and couldn’t find it. I should have taken picture with the door panel off, but I didn’t.

Just to make sure that we are all talking about the same thing with regards to the light features within the side mirror housing...

At least on my MY'22, there were two different light features available: Puddle Lights and Spot Lights. I'm wondering if both of these are different light features are starting to be discussed and used interchangeably, when they are separate light features.

I think a lot of trucks come with Puddle Lights - lights in the mirror housing to illuminate the area below the door so that you can see where you will be stepping when exiting:

They are not the same as Spot Lights, which are shown here:

The Spot Lights shoot out perpendicular to the truck. Handy for finding addresses, etc. The Spot Lights have the two buttons on the dash to activate the right and left light separately.

Do you have a listing of what changes were needed in ForScan?

I am in a bit of shock. I did not know that the saving measures went this far
That tape should cover the wires completely. Wow!

I just double checked and it turns out ML3Z-17696-DA does have both puddle and spot lights.

Wow! You may have just completely turned me around on this! I have been away from this topic long enough that I am pretty rusty, and need to re-educate myself and refresh my knowledge on the details, part numbers, etc.

Your signature says you have a MY2024. Did you convert your truck to Tow Mirrors, or are they from the factory? I seem to recall that there were some posts saying there are changes/differences when upgrading a 2024, or upgrading using 2024 mirrors - I don't recall right now, and need to start reviewing old posts.

As I say, I kind of let this possible mod fall to the wayside, but now need to refresh my knowledge. Thanks for the update!

I just replaced the mirrors. Everything was plug and play with the exception of telescoping feature.

RL3Z14631E is the door harness that Jesse-Infotainment suggested i needed to make that feature work.

Excellent. I've gone back and reviewed some of my notes on this potential modification (and still have more to go through...), and that P/N for the jumper harness was in my notes. Did you have to splice the jumper harness into your existing OEM wire harness, or is it "plug 'n' play", i.e., no splicing - it just plugs into your existing harness?

Also, I reviewed the descriptions of P/N ML3Z-17696-DA again from various Ford parts suppliers. I saw no mention of puddle lights or spot lights, but you said that yours worked - great! Most of the descriptions from the various suppliers did state that the turn signal and/or clearance light in the mirror would not (may not?) work. Does yours?

My truck is 2024 Lariat EcoBoost 502a, standard Power Mirrors, Power Fold, Blis, and 360 Camera, puddle and spot lights. After installing ML3Z-17696-DA all of the options worked minus the telescoping arms. This was a plug and play install.

Based on a message form Jesse-Infotainment he believes RL3Z14631E, doorside, is the only part needed to make the the telescoping arms work. It appears the passanger side is already wired for that feature. Forscan will be need to activate the telescoping arms.

I have ordered RL3Z14631E and do not believe any splicing will be required. I will update this post after its has been completed. It might be a week or so before I get to it.

No issues with cameras?

I have no problem with removing the tape to try and locate the wiring. I was very surprised too since we got a truck with power fold and thought would have power extend.

Where did you find the RL3Z14631E harness? I am only seeing they go for $255, but on sale for $180. I am interested in ordering but want to make sure this is what is needed. Looks like it for trims with ambient light, remote start. I think it may be cheaper to buy the whole door harness for a king ranch, but a lot less involved.

Yes they needed to be switched. It was simple. This is an excerpt from a post on another thread.

"As other posts have indicated the cameras from my original mirrors needed to be to switched to the new ones. It was very simple and took less then 30 minutes to do both and only required a phillips, T10 and T15 screwdriver. The part numbers for the cameras are very similar ML3T-19J220-BB on stock mirrors and ML3T-19J220-AC on the tow mirrors. But not similar enough"

My cameras did not need to be recalibrate. But I made sure to mark and photograph the the orientation of the cameras on the stock mirrors. This allowed me to make sure they were clocked in the same position when I installed them in the new ones. The cameras mount in a style different on the tow mirrors bracket. I think it would be possible at 90 to 180 degrees by mistake. No clue if could have cause problems for others.

It's hard to see the parking lot lines as they are covered in salt but they are pretty parallel to the cameras overlay.

Outstanding - looking very forward to the update.

On a side note, I got some news today that was alarming - I was at the Ford dealership today getting some warranty work performed. While I was there, I chatted up the Service Advisor, and told him I was considering upgrading to Tow Mirrors. Out of pure curiosity, I asked if they did that, and if so, how much would the labor be (was curious as to how much I would save). He informed me that they did do those modifications, but I should be forewarned that I will be forfeiting the mirror power-folding feature. WHAT? Is that correct? If so, that will kill my interest in this mod, because I use that feature more than any other mirror feature. Do yours power fold? Manually (pressing a button)? Automatically (when doors locked)?

not sure who the post is for, but I have a 2024 platinum and upgraded to the tow mirrors. You will have to change the cameras from your factory if it is a newer model because of the frequency difference. As for the fold it still works. You will have to enable through the settings on the radio for the power fold. Everything else works. Will also have to enable the amber parking lights for the mirrors. Everything works as normal except my truck didn’t have the the power extend connector, that is the only option for now that doesn’t work.
