Been trying to take delivery of my truck now for 3 days. Dealer dragging their heels on PDI, paperwork, etc. Its been here a week and it's been 100+ days waiting (which is not bad considering others situations). Finally get in this afternoon and sit with finance guy to sign papers. I advise him that I have an ESP on my current 2018 F150 and that it doesn't even kick into effect until may 18, 2021. The three year / 60,000km (which ever comes first) has still not come in yet as I'm only at 44,000kms and the three year mark will be May 18. Naturally I assume that I have SOME ESP money eligible for carry over to new vehicle ESP having not truly gotten into the current ESP yet. The finance guys assumes the same. He calls Ford ESP people and they advise him that I have $0 eligible for transfer to a new ESP and this is due to a service that was performed on my vehicle back in October 2020. So he pulls the service order up from Oct and it was to fix a seal and/or repair leak on the AC compressor. I think I had both performed, maybe even a new compressor but regardless that would (should) have been covered under the standard 3yr 60,000, (or so one would assume). Am I wrong here? We spoke to my dealers service manager and he confirmed that the parts listed on the October work order should indeed be covered under standard 3yr 60000 km warranty. It's clear that the ESP rep from Ford Canada is out to lunch. We advised the rep of the situation but he is adamant that this compressor work was not covered under standard vehicle warranty and that the decision stands. No opportunity for escalation..

I ended up leaving without the truck for the third day in a row. As it stands, I paid $2500 CAN for an ESP back in 2018 that still hasn't kicked in and now I cannot get a single dollar transferred over to a new ESP on my new truck. I want to get the new ESP price built into the payments and not pay out of pocket. However I am not giving ford another cent if this is how they are going to gouge me on this.

Wondering if anybody has come across this or something similar before? Hoping I just ran into a random dummy here and dealer can make some headway tomorrow.

My dealer always buys the remainder (mileage) of my ESP back when I trade the vehicles in and then sells me a new ESP less what he refunded me on the previous vehicles, hopefully you get things worked out

Picked up my truck the next day and declined the ESP. Turns out this ESP carry-over is a known issue with the dealers and is flat out robbery on behalf of Ford. And it is widely acknowledged by Ford as well. From what I am told, this situation is not a common occurrence as most people keep their vehicles beyond the three year, 60,000km period and most often, end up buying another vehicle from the same dealer. The dealer will usually then "do what they can for you" on a new ESP for the new vehicle, and people do not tend to haggle or straight up ask any questions on how any eligible carry-over is actually calculated.

In my case I ended up being charged for the vehicle rental I had for 2 days when my AC compressor failed, and the vehicle rental when my 5.0 engine was replaced on a TSB due to excessive oil consumption. The rental fees and parts required as part of the changeouts totaled ~$2300 and therefore chewed up any eligible carry-over I could have had towards purchase of a new ESP.

I have already taken the next step in the process with Ford direct. In for an uphill battle, if not a complete waste of time. People need to be aware of the ins and outs of these ESP's. Strange nobody else has run into this..

Ford wouldn't be selling ESP's if they weren't making money on them.

Best ESP I have come across is having cash money in the bank, and taking good care of the vehicle.
