So last year I installed 5100s on my 21 Platinum Powerboost and to be honest I couldnt tell much of a difference on the crappy city streets, still bounces around/floaty feeling all the time. Fast forward to today and the passenger side is already blown. I contacted the reseller and they said to send it back and they would inspect it, but that just leaves me without my truck for who knows how long.

They werent expensive and I'd rather just move on to something else. Besides another set of Bilstiens what would you guys recommend? I dont haul or tow anything, its basically just my work vehicle that I drive between Dallas and Austin.

Stock. I have 6112/5160 because I needed a truck suspension. Stock it is as soft as you're going to get. For most people that's all you need. For years I had Fox, but again it's definitely firmer than stock. Ford's current suspension setup is for the masses..... For the rest of us that want the most out of it we have no choice but to upgrade the suspension.

I would say you got a defective set. I run 5100 on my truck and tow 6000 pound trailer. Going on almost 3 years not a issue at all,

Ditto from me. I also upgraded to 5100s about a year ago,, tow a 5500 lb travel trailer quite a lot . I noticed a big difference over the stock “Off Road” FX 4 shocks… the rear end stopped bouncing around and towing was also better.

Two things to consider is first adding a rear anti-sway bar if the truck does not have one and second is to go with adjustable shocks.

I had a truck that had a bed that was empty or had a 3700 lb load and so I used the Rancho XL adjustable shocks that have 10 dampening settings. I would be at "5" with the bed empty and at "10" with the heavy load. Took me less than 10 seconds per shock to change the setting. The cost for the shocks was the same as for non-adjustble ones.
