Rear seat belts locking up.

I have a 23 F150 and my rear passengers complain that the shoulder belts in the rear out board positions ratchet and keep getting tighter. This happens when moving or even stopped. Has anyone else had this issue. I searched the forum and found no posts. The only way to get them to unlock is to remove them and let them go back to the resting position and then put back on but of course they lock up again. New truck. 3 mo old about 6k miles on it. Thoughts?

As for seatbelts, haven't seen the issue reported. I've seen seatbelts that when stressed would engage the ratchet function in a manner where it had to be retracted to be reset and you can hear it in such a lockup mode as it retracts. Been a minute since I've triggered such a function. Always figured that was a rollover type feature to keep occupants firmly locked in while tumbling.

Have you tried recreating it yourself? Seems odd for it to be on both sides.

Yeah I’ve got to get back there and see. Was just taking the temperature of the group to see if others had the issue. Just driving along normal and yeah I can hear them ratcheting getting tighter. Oh and it’s all thumbs up here on the lightning. This is the best truck I’ve ever had. 3 months in and I love it! I can’t imagine going back to gas unless I needed to pull trailers across the country all day. lol.

This feature can be engaged if you pull the belt all the way out before fastening it.

It shouldn't engage with normal use (not pulling it all the way out).

“Feature” lol. Thanks for that info. I will check it out once I’m near my truck this weekend. That could very well be what’s going on. One of my buddy’s is a big dude and he might be pulling it all the way.
