Hello all, my name is John and I'm new to the message board. I recently (March 2023) purchased a 2022 F150 XLT Sport-4WD Crew Cab. It was a demo model with roughly 4k miles on it. Since the purchase I got the leveling kit and a few other accessories.

I decided to purchase the 22" Ford Performance wheels and had a few questions for those who have made the same/similar (22" wheels) swap.

1-Do I need to purchase new lug nuts for these wheels?
2-What would be a good sized tire that would not cause any rubbing issues?

I'm not planning on doing any off roading and looking for a all purpose tire that doesn't stick out excessively. I've included a picture of my truck as it stands right now below. And also included a picture of a truck that has the look I'm looking for. I believe it has Toyo tires and may be lowered a little.
Thanks for any help and tips provided.

My Truck below:

NOT my truck but the look I looking for:

If you're going to lower it (2" front / 4" rear) a good size performance ("sport truck") tire size on 22" wheels would be 285-45-22. Just make sure it has a XL Load Range. I just picked up a set of 22 x 9.5 Roush wheels and will be picking up a set of TOYO Proxes ST III's to put on them.

i wouldnt go smaller than a 305/45 bc of your leveling kit - these may even look small to you. You can likely fit a 285/55 but your tire options are limited and the price jumps substantially. 285/55 Toyo AT3 on my leveled 2013. It's on a steep incline in this picture, the tire fills the wheel well nicely in the front on flat ground.

Thank you. At this time I don't plan on lowering it but could be a possibility in the future if I don't ending up liking the look with the leveling kit on it. I'm going to go with some 305/45's. Now just got to figure out which tire I like best.

Those are the wheels that my dealer tried to sell me on mine, when I looked at the window sticker and saw I was all ready paying a $1,200 up-charge for the optional 20s on my STX I said screw that. They are sharp though.

Got the same wheels and I went with Michelin 305/45R22. No rubbing or issues.

Heck yeah. That's exactly what I was needing. Thank you for sharing your photos. That help me a lot. Your truck looks very nice.

I run a Goodyear 305-45-22 and have not had any rubbing issues but I'm on a Ridetech 3/5 with different control arms.

Was considering the Ford Performance 22’s but picked up 22” Roush wheels from their Nitemare Edition on eBay for $874 delivered. Here’s a pic of the wheel plus a few from the web of them on an actual Roush modded earlier gen.

All of this info comes from comparing data supplied by Tire Rack on their website. I did not do the comparisons myself so please bark at them if you disagree. Lol.

The stock 275/60/20 (Sport Package) Hankook tires are 32.8" tall and turn 634 revolutions per mile. A 305/45/22 tire is 32.8" tall and turns 633 revolutions per mile (which effectively negates any potential speedo error).

By comparison a 285/45/22 is 32.1" tall and rotates 647 times per mile.

I'd go with a 295 50 over a 305 45 as it's not even 33" and looks too small. Even a 285 50 will look better, but both the 285 and 295 50s I'm seeing are LTs.

Here's 295 50s https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/lead-foot-f-150-2021-club.315/page-20#post-138540
I see what your saying and agree with you. I went to https://tiresize.com/calculator/ and used their tire calculator to get a better idea of how the new and old tires compare. I'm thinking the 285 or 295/50's would look better than the 305's. The only thing I don't like is the limited selection of tires and the substantial price increase.

I'm going to photoshop the 295/50 and 285/50 to scale on a pic of my truck and see which I like best. Thanks for your input and suggestion.

My truck came with 275/65/18 tires. But I'm using https://tiresize.com/calculator/ to do some comparing of different wheel and tire sizes.

Thanks
