It's a great party trick/feature. And I only found out about this after reading a thread.

I was rolling up to our storage unit and I hopped out to input the gate code. Well my iPhone was in the indention where the gear shift would lay flat in. The iPhone was leaning toward the gear shift and the gearshift wedged my iPhone with the indention as it moved from Drive to Park. I never keep my phone there! I'll never do it again.

I had to use a good bit of force to pull the gear shift back to get the iPhone free. The gear shift folds normally and slides back and forth, thankfully. It was pretty stressful, my wife was in the hospital getting prepped for baby delivery and I was grabbing the new infant car seat.

Thankful it was not stuck for good or rendered useless.

I am curious to what would happen if I would of shut the door, would that of stopped the gear shift from going from Park to Drive? I'll experiment, but first my wife has to deliver this baby!

I find it a pain and probably will disable the auto-hold feateure. Cant open the door to look back while backing up a trailer, and it wont start rolling unless i shut the door, even if i only want to move couple of feet.

Agreed Pete! The safety feature is a little over reaching in my mind.

It's not the auto-hold. This is a federally mandated safety feature to prevent idiots running over themselves and others. I don't think it can be disabled. Btw the column shifter does the same thing.
