First off, a huge thank you to everyone on this forum for helping me figure out what to order! No way in hell the dealership would have had any clue about the details that this forum provided (especially towing stuff). I main priority for me was enough luxury (leather seats, technology stuff) with as much payload as feasible for towing, and powerboost for boondocking with my trailer. So I went with the attached build and I think it's a very nice sweet spot, again I would not have ordered the right truck for me without this website and Granger for giving me an awesome starting point for the price! I ended up at $59,600 ($60,200 w/$600 rebate) which I think is a great price at $8k under MSRP. Hopefully there's some better rebates at the time of delivery.

I actually ordered my truck around mid January, but had such a sh1tty experience with the dealership, I wasn't sure (nor had confidence) that my order was actually placed and was moving forwards. Long story short, I was trying so hard to spend money and they were making it very difficult. My sales guy was a rookie that knew nothing about the truck or ordering one. They messed up the build several times, gave me pricing that they then renegged on, couldn't get emails with status, went in multiple times in person to get it done and couldn't....just insane, was ready to walk away but we finally got it all sorted out. Now 2-3 weeks later, I tried to get a hold of people to get status and couldn't.

I finally called the GM of the whole dealership to explain my frustrations and get answers. He was very pleasant, understanding and found what happened unacceptable. He told me over the phone, that (magically today) the truck was "order was accepted for a build date" or "scheduled to be built" (can't remember the exact terms). Knowing what I learned from this forum, I questioned if there was a VIN. No, no VIN yet, but he said that because the order was accepted, that we should have a vin in the next week or two. I don't know how much of this to believe? Does this sound like how the process works before getting a VIN? I dunno, but I have direct contact with the GM, so if I don't hear anything in a week or so, I'll call back. So HOPEFULLY this is true and it's not too far away from being built.

What's everyone think? Am I being blown smoke to get calmed down? I wonder if he knows he can prioritize it into one of their build slots to get it moving when it wasn't before?

I had a tentative build week a few weeks before I had a VIN, so that part does not sound unreasonable.

I asked him in a follow up email if he could give me a rough idea of a build week/delivery date is at this point...we'll see....

The dealer should be able to provide you with a screenshot of the progress at Ford.
Once Ford gets it, it should show a date and time the order was accepted.
(Mine was accepted within 2 hrs of placing order—back in August)
The report will show “Unsceduled-(Clean)” if it is an order with no issues.
It will remain in this limbo until it is scheduled to be built.
The next report will show a date and time that it was scheduled, and the week that assembly is intended.
Closer to the build, status will show to a particular date.
(But in these trying times that has been pushed around a bit)

I ordered on Aug 14, 2020
Accepted by Ford 8-14-2020 16:22
Was finally scheduled on 12-01-2020, the first day of scheduling Retail Orders.
Scheduled to week of 1-19-2020
On Dec 14, it was scheduled to the day of 1-24-2020
Assembly started on 1-24, and finished on 1-25
Status changed to built, awaiting shipment on 1-26
Shipped on 1-31
Delivered to dealer 2-8 very early in the morning—I knew before sales guy did
Paid for on 2-9
Will pick it up on Saturday after a couple of accessories have been installed
Still have not taken a test drive.

Okay, so I tend to believe when he said it's been scheduled to be built, but he wouldn't give me an estimated week. With things up in limbo, maybe he didn't want to get me excited yet. I followed up in email again to see if he would give a rough estimate, we'll see if they get back to me! Sounds promising though....

Wow I guess he wasn't blowing smoke, I have a VIN!! (1FTFW1ED1MFB13520) He said it was scheduled for production 2/22, but the ford website isn't showing a specific date, however it does say "in production" but lower down it says "scheduled for production" and it doesn't show a date...what's the real status here??

Needless to say I'm very excited and feel lucky this is happening so quick (being built about 4 weeks after ordering). I wonder how long this will take to arrive in Albuquerque?

The blend date on the top confirms you are set for a build date of Feb 22 (220210222 = 2YYYYMMDD).

Very cool, thank you. A week to build and I don't have any of the add ons that make it need to sit around longer (bed liner, wheel liners, etc) so I assume it should be shipped quick. Is there any way to find out how long shipping will take to ABQ?

What I have been doing is taking a few VIN numbers from my dealer and popping them into the tracker on this website to see what they were. Look at the 11th digit of the VINs to find others built in Dearborn (F) and you'll get an idea for what to expect.

That thread scares the crap outta me...I might be out of town when the truck arrives, which would freak me out further!
