I have a 2022 F150 Powerboost Lariat with the 502A option package. I'm trying to get the Pro Trailer "Hitch" assist feature to work. I've watched several videos and I think that I know how it should function. When I push the Pro Trailer button it should ask me if I have a trailer connected or not. This apparently helps it decide if to give you Hitch assist or back up assist, depending if the trailer is connected or not. I don't don't get that screen to pop up to give me that choice. Instead it goes into back up assist mode and wants me to calibrate my truck to the trailer using the stickers. (The stickers are not needed for trailer "hitch" assist). I did a search but couldn't find any other posts that have mentioned this issue. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to get this feature to function properly?

Did you put the stickers that came with the truck on your trailer and calibrate it as it says too?

Should only be needed for Pro Trailer "Back UP" Assist. Not for Hitch assist.

I just look in the manual..starting at page 439 explains how to use it. Might help to review the operation.

As I remember, the 22s never came with PTHA. I have a job 2 22 that didn’t come with it but I did add it. My APA was deleted but I replaced my IPMA with one that included the APA chip and made some Forscan changes to get the feature.

Thank you for the reply. If your memory is correct, that would explain why it's not functional in my '22. One of the Ford video's mentioned that earlier models would receive an OTA to implement this feature. Maybe, I haven't received that as of yet.

Page 439 in my manual explains Trailer "Back Up" assistance which is used when the truck is already connected to a trailer. I'm looking for trailer "hitch" assistance in order to easier connect the truck to the trailer. It is available on the '23 model year but may not be available on my '22.

After some additional research, I've come to the conclusion that my 2022 F150 hasn't received the OTA update offering this feature. Here is a link that states that update should arrive with update 7.X which I haven't received yet. I'm still on 6.4.

With Ford’s track record on their OTA process, I won’t count on it coming anytime soon. You’re better off taking matters into your own hands. I’m not even sure the 22s with deletes will get PTHA through OTA since an IPMA with the APA chip is required. There’s a thread for installing APA. It’s rather inexpensive for the required APA and a couple Forscan changes. Here’s a link to the thread. Browse through it for info on the IPMA and Forscan changes.

Yeah, good point. It's not a big deal to have this feature for me. It's one of those nice to have but not necessary features for me.

21 Powerboost here. Job 1. I didn't get hitch assist working until after the doing the FDRS updates myself Nov 22. And Forscan after that. I concur that you need newer software.

Once I had it working I used it and it worked a few times. But I also had the truck MISS the hitch and damage the bumper. Use it very carefully.
