Not even a 1K miles in and I go to start my truck after dropping off my daughter at school to see a Service Soon notification on the dash and the little wrench illuminated. After checking FordPass it appears more serious than I originally thought. Called the dealer to be told there is a 3 month wait for walk-ins and a 6 month wait for scheduled service for a transmission. Luckily they connected me to their sister location 40 miles away who can get me in 2 weeks from now, but it will still have to sit there 10 days before they apparently look at it. I'm guessing that initial appointment is just an intake appointment with the service advisor. I did have a quick opportunity to talk to a Service Advisor who was able to provide more detail. Apparently the truck through the following code: P0929.

I did a quick search and it does appear this has happened to a few people, but the cause and fix seems to vary. Pretty frustrated to have to take a brand new truck in maintenance. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Additional details:
  • Truck still runs great
  • No issues shifting between gears
  • No weird or loud sounds from the truck
  • Still getting good gas mileage and hybrid is still functional

intermittent fault, if everything is working and no trouble light is illuminated, then keep driving. You're driving a computer. If it was a hard fault it would return after the restart and you would have drivability issues.

That's what I was thinking, but I continue to get the same service notification every time I start the truck. The wrench stays illuminated and doesn't go away.

Hey there! I can look into your F-150’s error message concerns on my end if you’d like. Will you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership info?

I jumped in the truck this morning and magically the notification message in the center of the dash and the wrench icon have completely gone away. FordPass is also no longer showing an alert. The only thing I did was ensure all the fuses were fully seated on Wednesday morning. Not sure why it took almost 48 hours for that to register and clear the notification (if it is indeed the culprit). I'm just going to watch it and hope it doesn't come back.

Mine is also in for that the third time .. getting very angry. Each time the codes go off and no start stranded 4 times. Dealer each times says its fixed. First 3 because of water I think...each time i washed it , now 4th time I pick it up 30 minutes later and hit a bump in the road codes go off again. it's at dealer now . I'm at wits end

I had this problem at 3100 miles and took it in and was told there is no threat to damage the truck and ford engineering is working on the problem (see photo). was driving to work today and it happened again At 7400 mi.

On vacation in Vermont for the Thanksgiving holiday with my family and my 2021 Powerboost (39,831 mostly trouble-free miles) and got the much discussed "Powertrain Malfunction/ Reduced Power" alert when we were heading out to dinner last night. Truck drove and shifted normally, including operating in electric only and shifting into and out of 4H, for travel on town maintained gravel roads.
Dash alert "Shift System Fault" and yellow wrench appear at each startup and have stayed on through about 4 vehicle restarts, including after being parked all night.
Since I am 400 miles from my dealer, I called a local dealers who can't even diagnose before 11/30/22.
I hope the extended warranty covers everything if it blows up driving home on Sunday!
