Ford F-150 Powerboost mpg help, curious about livernois and tires 1000004583

Just bought some ko3's and this murdered my mpg. Having said that the conditions around town are not ideal (bend,OR-mt bachelor) but the fuel economy has gone down like 4-6mpg. I expected to take a hit but damn what's the point of the pb? Won't stay in ev mode near as long. Tire size is 275/70/r18 2021 pb. Heard the livernois can help with mpg also, can anyone confirm? Would be into getting the sled tuned if I could utilize the battery ? for fuel economy. Thanks!

One more thing the Ko3's have a wobble in my steering wheel that will not go away, I have had the tires balanced 3 times and am about to return them and grab a diff at tire any suggestions

The powerboost might have the ability to get better MPG's, but out on road trips you won't see much difference.

The Livernois E-boost option is what I've been seriously considering to get some of my fuel economy back.

I just don't know if the juice is worth the squeeze though. I can't do any better than 15 mpg with winter blend fuel on the interstate (17 back when it was warm). If I found out that 20 mpg was possible again.....then I'd definitely buy the tune, for the extra power/economy.

The bulk of my driving is around town and I will see 17-24 mpg depending on ambient temps and my right foot. I'm not mad at it though, I picked out big tires. My next tire choice will definitely be smaller and lighter though.

That’s what E rated tires on f150s do, especially an all terrain. Your results corresponds to basically every thread here.

I’m running the same size but SL not LT. Stock tires are 43 lbs you can still run that size look at the general ATX weight at 45 and the nitto G3 at 45.6 . The bfg are great tire at the price of mpg . Bfg =60 pounds.

Every thread on here, every post on facebook........

Powerboost just makes 35's possible where the normal 3.5 ecoboost would probably get the same mpgs with 33's.

I have a 21 PB XLT and I run the Vredestein Pinza ATs SL 275/60/20 and I have been very very happy with them. I average about 21-24 city

I did a 200 mile trip on the highway driving to Chicago doing 75 and I got 23.7 which I think is pretty good in winter running the heat and heated seats!

they are on on road all terrain, but do very well off road and on snow. I have a property off the beaten path and I have had no issues with them whatsoever

I have the K02's on a 2500 HD work truck and theyre horrible....imo ppl go for them for the looks but they're loud af and suck your fuel economy

hope this helps ??‍♂

I really enjoy my Livernois tune, but I definitely lost mpg with it, about 1 mpg. Even when I drove totally slow. Plus, I'm tied in to using 93 Octane. It's worth it to me, but it isn't the cheapest cost per mile.

My AT tires of the same size as stock, cost me 2 mpg. I only lost another .5-1 mpg when I went to 35s.

The AFE Momentum air intake made a notable increase in economy, about .75mpg consistently. This is probably your best bang for the buck. The engine is notably peppier, the economy was improved, and frankly you can sell it off someday if you desire and not have lost much.

The lowest cost per mile of fuel, is RUG, stock tune, maybe add the Momentum, and of course stock tires inflated high. you will gain about 1mpg with the stock tune running super and it'll run notably better, but your cost per mile will still be less on RUG.
The highest mpg reading on the dash, is ethanol free fuel. Also, the most expensive per mile.
The most fun, is high octane gas with the Livernois tune. In my view, no point in running high octane if you aren't going to throw in a tune as the real cost is in the fuel, not the tune itself.

So on a typical interstate (running 70+ mph) road trip with 35’s what kind of MPG’s do you see?

Did you get the e-boost option?

Yes, I have the E-boost, but then it's a hindrance due to extra weight at 70 mph. You buy it for the generator function and how pleasant it is to drive through your neighborhood/ drive throughs/ stuck in traffic/ power your RV or home/ charge your e-bike/ etc.

My truck is particularly heavy, 6,620# with my 180# carcass and a full tank of fuel. Also 22"s are terrible for economy, but they look so good!

My truck overall averages 18 mpg during the Winter & 19 mpg during the Summer, driving it medium. I live in Hills and do notice the best economy in medium to heavy traffic on the in town interstates, which I rarely do. It's crazy but the slower speeds and flat roads can get economy up around 23-24 mpg pretty easily. When it was dead stock I got about 21mpg stock once I aired up the tires on RUG with my daily drive & it went up 22 mpg on Super Unleaded.

High speeds, kill the economy. 70 mph on the interstate, maybe 17- 17.5 mpg. 75+ on the hilly roads with the winds in TX right now will drop it to 15.5-16 very quickly.

The motor on my truck runs like nothing else I've had. With the current mods, fuel, oil & I guess the cold air it's like a really powerful sowing machine. So smooth, quiet and powerful. It really impresses me these days. It used to sound rougher. I wonder if the notably rougher tone will come back in the Summer months.

You do slightly better than I do with the tune then. My tires are 34.4” an I average 17 mpg since I’ve started running winter blend fuel. I’ve seen as low as 14 mpg on a 75 mph interstate trip, but I can still get 23 mpg running back and forth to work.

I’m still considering the tune…….having the extra power would be nice, but I’d really be interested in better economy. I should have picked different tires if I was really worried about it though.
