Power Running Board Motor Noise

Does anyone’s powers running boards make a motor or whatever noise that is when dropping down for the first time usually after the vehicle sits for a while?

It mainly does it when vehicle sits for a while I go to open the drivers door, it makes the noise then you can close the door and open again and it doesn’t make the noise anymore after that!

Negative, that doesn't sound right. I would think something is "catching" in there judging by that noise.

Ive looked underneath idk what it would be catching on plus like I posted it only does it once the first time I open the door when the truck has sat a while.

I wonder if a little lube on the pivot points would help. This past winter I had one side that would not retract. It would just stay extended all the time. I crawled under and gave it a little push while hitting the kick button and it broke free and has worked fine since. My assumption is that grit from road salt/sand worked its way up in the pivot points and provided enough resistance that the motor would stop trying to close it. All this is to say, it seems that they may be a little susceptible to issues, especially in adverse conditions. The humidity in Houston may be a contributing factor.

Either way, that sound isn't great. I personally would spray penetrating oil like PB Blaster on the pivot points and see if that cleans things up. Much less hassle than bringing it to the dealer if it works and your only out $5 bucks or so if you don't have a can laying around the shop.

Good points and will give it a try for sure, I had it at the dealer for recalls and let them know about that sound and they actually found a fault in the motor and supposedly replaced the motor but here we are again.
