Looking for opinions please:
I have a 22 F150 Supercab with 5.0, 3.73, 36 gallon gas tank. I currently tow a 22' Travel trailer that I hardly even know is back there. I average between 9 and 12 MPG and am really happy with it. Unfortunately the current trailer has developed floor issues and it will cost more than its worth even if I do most of the work myself plus its has a small bathroom. We found a new trailer (2024 Flagstaff 25FBLS) we really like has everything we want but its 25'10" basically 26'.
It has a hitch weight of 697lbs and a GVWR of 6984. I've looked at the towing guide and it makes me think I could tow up to 10,500. I have a Husky WD hitch rated to 12,000. Ive attached my tire sticker to this. Its just the two of us no grandkids or pets, no bikes so I think it should be ok. I appreciate any replies. Thanks

I personally wouldn’t tow a travel trailer more than around 7k lbs unless it’s something thats more rounded and/or lower profiled. Something like an Airsteam and I’d consider going up to 8k Lbs. The crosswinds here in Texas can be brutal on flat surfaces.
With that being said, sounds like you have had RVs for a while and are accustomed to the ”white knuckle” moments that arise when towing. Keep in mind bigger=more of those moments.

I went from a 22 foot 4,000 lbs wet trailer to a 2019 Northern Spirit 2758 rb this summer.
Here's the specs:

Towing with a Max Tow 3.5. I thought I'd notice more of a difference. It's been totally fine.
Most of my towing is on relatively flat terrain though.

You listed GVWR. What is the dry weight and what would you guess your wet weight will be?
When I google the model, it shows your hitch weight at 824 lbs? That seems heavy for a trailer of that length. Maybe I'm missing something?

for 2024 they swapped the refrigerator and couch around which put the fridge further back lowering the hitch weight. The dry weight is 5748 and we always use campground hookups. We've had trailers since 1990 and never once filled a water tank, the only time my pump gets used is winterizing. Your Northern Spirit looks like a nice floorplan, got to love those bathrooms you can actually use. Thanks for your input.

Ah gotcha. I can't foresee any issues with what you describe.

Enjoy your new trailer!

Yes, the bathroom was a huge step up from our last trailer.

best answer is yes
followed by weigh it empty when you get it, hitch wt, axles and total (not hooked to truck)
then do same thing hooked to truck to get all the axle weights etc.

then weigh it loaded for the expected trips and do the weigh evolution once again (not hooked up)
then do same thing hooked up to verify your expected outcomes

i use a feed store scale as they dont charge, and allow you to tie up the scale for more than a minute.

In my opinion, go for it. Just be sure to test and tune the weight distribution hitch once you get it home. Dealers only install, they don't fine tune them...

Honestly, when I first saw this, I thought that you were trolling people. I can't imagine having any payload issues when you have more than 2000lbs of capacity.

Unless you're planning to load up a cord of firewood in the bed at the same time you're towing that trailer, I suspect that you'll be fine.

I may be guilty of loading the box 50% full of firewood while heading out camping, haha

Nope not trolling just looking for input. I thought I’d be ok but confirmation is reassuring.
