Please help (33.23 vs 33.5 vs ??)

I have a ‘23 XLT Sport 5.5 w/ 3.5 eco, 3.31 gears and I’m looking to upgrade tires alongside my newly purchased Fuel 20x9 +20 wheels. I have spent countless hours researching and going back and forth on what tires to get. I live in TX but do a few road trips to ski in the winter and good wet traction is important. Hardly any towing.

P-Rated 33+ AT/Hybrids
- 305/55r20 Nitto Ridge or Recon
- 285/60r20 Toyo Open Country AT3

Which of the 3 would you go with? Or anything else I should consider?

I've run the following tires on my F150s:

Bridgestone Dueller H/L Alenza:
Stock tire on my 2014, poor wet traction.

Nitto Terra Grappler G2 :
Great all around 4 season tire, surprisingly good in deep snow, my second favorite tire.

Falken Wild Peak A/T3W:
Slightly nosier than the Nittos, good wet road and snow traction. Better straight line traction on icy roads compared to the Nittos, but easier to slide sideways.

Hankook Dynapro AT2:
Stock tire on my 2021, poor wet traction

Toyo Open Country A/TIII:
Over-hyped, not worth the money, there are much better options. Braking on snow covered/icy roads doesn't inspire confidence, but my truck did stop.

Continental TerrainContact A/T:
My favorite tire hands down, tons of grip in wet weather, quiet, smooth ride.

Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2:
My favorite snow tire, I run these on my truck and on my wife's Nissan in the winter.

305s are wiiiide. They will hurt your mpg more than the tire height will. And what are the weight comparison between all those tires?

Personally, I went with 275/60/20 (33.0") specifically because I didn't want heavy, stiff, Load range E tires. I assume all your choices are range E? I wish there were some lighter duty 285/60/20s because thats what I would have bought instead.

I bought cheaper Khumo AT52s and they are light, nice tread pattern, quiet, etc. BUT, not well balanced. Discount tire tried twice and I don't fully know what to blame at this point.

All of the tires I listed are P rated so they are around 50 lbs each. If I wanted to go up to an E rated tire my options would increase considerably.

Sounds like you're mostly a pavement driver. I am. I suggest sticking with the OEM size. Taller and wider will cost you MPGs. Their only benefit to you will be appearance. The tire I chose is the Michelin Defender. You can get the LTX M/S version anywhere. If you're a Costco member you can their version LTX A/T2 (this is what I have). Both have high mileage warranties.; 70K vs 60K respectively. The Costco tire is a little less expensive. Wherever you get your tires see if they offer free lifetime balancing and rotation. Costco does. Other places do too. This benefit could easily be worth $300 ± per year.

I'll second this for all those reasons. A close second is a General Grabber APT. The General is a bit more aggressive looking, maybe a bit more offroad capable. Continental also makes the General Grabber APT which is why they look so similar.

I have run the Nitto Terra Grappler on my 2500 pickup and they were quiet and provided excellent traction and had an average tread life if rotated regularly. The required a 80 PSI fill and I needed to buy a air compressor as few gas station compressors could not provide that amount of pressure.

I had the Continental CrossContact LX20 tires on my AWD full size SUV and they were excellent in terms of handling and low noise and a passenger car like ride but no issues with handling on wet surfaces or on mountain roads. They were fine at 35 PSI and would be my first choice for new tires for a F-150 truck.
