It's amazing that the Gen14 XLT digital dash is every bit the equal of the Gen13 Limited dash, yet we haven't found a crack for the digital temps yet. It's crazy.

Even more bizarre is Ford eliminating what WAS exclusive to the previous XLT display..... The large Digital Transmission Temp option in the truck information section.

I concur about Ford's elimination of the transmission temp read out on earlier Gen trucks. My old 2014 XLT w/ HDPP had that feature. I especially liked it when towing in mountainous regions.

I wonder what goes through their minds sometimes. Can't be to save money. They aren't removing hardware. Sometimes they are dumber than a bag of rocks.

You'd think that there's a team of folks responsible for design/development of the Instrument cluster and that they compare the targeted upcoming features with existing? It'd be fundamental!

I mean surely SOMEONE discussed the differences and whether it's a good idea to leave out the transmission temperature?

I personally don't think it could possibly be an accident. Which means it was intentional. Which means I want just one off the record interview with someone who would give truthful answers. I just want to understand. ??

It was suggested when I asked a similar question to look at the MX+ OBD2 Dongle and related OBD Link app. Yes there is a bit of a curve to set up the gauges but the results are great. I wanted to be able to see some of this info without forscan. Downloaded the app to my last Samsung phone and use it standalone in the truck after some help from others posts here in the forum. The dongle is plug and play. Once connected it updates and scans truck for all PID info. I’ve attached a couple photos. There is more available but for now this fits my needs towing and general awareness.

I bet if you find the guy that thinks transmission temp is not an important thing, he will look a lot like the Toyota guy that says "Our customers do not want a 7.2kw generator for the Tundra".

It's amazing.

Well it looks like @PB2021 found the Transmission Fluid temp with his OBDLink app?
I must be blind as a bat!

@Atlee, maybe he will share the name of the module/PID for it and you fellas with the XLT will get it back while towing!

I just looked and it is in the PCM module under the Ford/Lincoln/Mercury library of modules.

It's called Transmission Fluid Temperature. ???

Well, amen. Looks like I am ordering the MX+. I just hope my very old Samsung S5 I just pulled out from my desk drawer has a big enough display to be useful.

thank you for all of the replies.

Now if anyone figures out how to display oil pressure I would love that info.

Been looking for oil pressure pid for 2 years.

My Ngauge shows it. (HPTuners)
And Forscan, full version, shows, it.

But no smartphone apps do, as far as I have seen

Interesting. So it’s clearly in there somewhere maybe just not labelled as clearly as other PIDs for some reason. With NGauge do you navigate to PIDs in a similar fashion to MX+ and OBDLink? Just curious if there is some unique label to search for. Alternately and maybe even more easily - it might be good to know the value block oil pressure shows in forscan as this might be similarly found in some of the apps like OBDLink. Does anyone have this info?

I use the OAR PID in Obdlink app, but it is a "user defined" PID, since it's not included in the PID library of the app.

If you could locate the actual "address" and "formula" for the oil pressure gauge, you could create the user defined Pid. However, things like Forscan and HPTuners Ngauge do NOT reveal their secrets. They will provide you the gauge/value/result of querying the PID, but they won't share with us the code for the PID itself.

I found the code for OAR on a Ford Focus RS or ST forum. So someone cracked the code on OAR. But I have diligently looked for the oil pressure code and haven't seen a whisper.

This is the necessary information for building a PID. (OAR, in this example)
We simply need the values for oil pressure

Hey guys - get a ScanGauge

https://www.scangauge.com

I used the 1st gen for years on my Ford escape Hybrid. You choose any 4 gauges to display.
Excellent product support. Mine was well out of warranty when the cable failed. They just sent me a whole new unit.

The 3rd Gen looks great. Configure 8 gauges of your choice. You can monitor anything the OBD2 reports, from tire pressures to EGR status, in real time.

Also works as a DTC query/clear tool on any car.

Buy direct (recommended) or AutoZone, Advance, or Camping World.

I messaged the company to verify compatibility with our trucks. I'll let you know.

i can’t find the sensors on the app for my 23 powerboost? Is there a way to see them.

Are you saying that you don't see the Ford, Lincoln, Mercury section at all?

I read where 2023 trucks might not expose them yet, so you have to edit your profile to be a 2022.
