What are your thoughts to improve ride and off-road ability? Would you increase from stock 275/60/20 to 275/65/20 or replace the rims to go 275/70/18? Both would increase the side wall and costs are close when you average the purchase of rim takeoffs on 18s. The only unknown would you have the level the truck to fit a 34.

Personally, I would upgrade the shocks/dampers first, if "improve ride and off-road ability" was the target.

Lower hanging fruit by far. And it would improve dramatically regardless of what wheels and tires were in the wheel wells. :)

I phrased the question wrong. I want more side wall to air down in low traction environments but preserve and possibly improve current ride dynamics. I do like the FX4 ride but can tell current tires do allow for more road feed back.

34's should fit without a leveling kit as long as the wheels are near factory specs (width/offset).

One consideration when moving to a larger tire like a 275/65R-20 or 275/70R-18 is that the selection will be primarily comprised of LT (light truck) options. LT tires utilize robust internal construction which aids durability, but can negatively impact performance in terms of MPG and overall ride quality.

This is ultimately why I decided to stay with 275-60R 20. The degraded ride with 65's was not worth it to me with my light duty use.

Then what tire sizes are produced in a 3 peak rate that is not a LT tire which would increase my side wall in 20” or 18”?

265/70R-18 would be a consideration if you switch gears and drop down to an 18-inch wheel. The vast majority of the A/T options in this size are SL (or XL) that also carry the 3PMSF stamp. The Falken A/T3W, Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S, Yokohama Geolandar G015 and Hankook AT2 RF11 are a handful that come to mind.

I'm not seeing any viable 20-inch solutions, though Pirelli offers their All-Terrain Plus in SL in the 275/65R-20 size. This model, however, is OE for the Rivian so the rubber compound is tuned for rolling resistance.

Guess I have stewed on this for a couple months. Since I don’t have max tow, can I go down to a 17” wheel? And would that open up more options for a slightly larger Than 33” tire?
