I changed my oil this morning, and when I went to reset the oil life monitor on the display, it won't reset. Normally you get to the oil life display under engine information, press and hold the ok button, and after a few seconds it will reset. Not this time. I held it down for over a minute... nothing. This is the 5th oil change, and this procedure has worked every other time. (Platinum, 5.0 V8, 27k miles) I tried several times, with and without the engine running.

About a week ago or so I got an OTA update that claimed to address a potential non start condition. It didn't say, but I suspect it was due to the no start when oil life is below 20% and the oil level is low. Did they fix one problem and break the reset in the process? Did they change the reset procedure?

Has anyone else had this problem? I can keep track of mileage the old fashioned way, but I don't want the nag to start when the percentage gets below 10%.

Does anyone have a solution?

There are 2 oil life screens only one will reset. Took a little time digging through menu screens from the steering wheel

Hey there! I can look into your F-150's oil life reset concerns on my end if you’d like. Will you send us a message with your VIN and dealership info?

I finally got it to reset. I Googled reset procedures for other Ford vehicles. One mentioned holding the brake and gas pedal to the floor to reset. I tried that with no success, but then held down the ok button while still holding brake and gas, and it reset. I suspect that holding the brake was the key, but I don't recall ever having to do that before, either in this vehicle or other Ford vehicles I have previously owned.

When I drive it a bit and oil life goes to 99%, I will reset again to verify.

I had the same problem today after I changed my oil. I pressed the okay button to reset and the reset status bar went from left to right, but my reset percentage stayed the same, 50%. I tried 3 times...same result. All 3 times I did this with the engine on and in Park.

The 4th try worked, but there was one difference. On my forth attempt I was in drive, but at a stop light (Note: you can't reset when the vehicle is moving). Could the magic solution be that the truck must be in Drive or the brake must be pressed...I do not know, but I thought me providing information on how I was able to reset the oil life in the computer may be useful and help others while Ford fixes this likely new software bug.

Note: I have a build 2 2021 F-150 Powerboost XLT FX4 built on 9/24/21 and purchased in Mid Oct 2021 -I received my 1st Over the Air Update on July 22, 2022 that may have caused this software issue.

I just had my oil changed at 5000 miles, checked the oil life to see if dealer reset it. It showed 52% life so I reset it in 'settings', 'vehicle maintenance' - it changed to 60%.
Confused as the rest of you why it doesn't display 100% upon a new oil change.

@Jus Cruisin is correct. There's two ways to get to oil life. 1. To view only, from the dash, go to Truck Info-->Engine Information-->Oil Life is displayed. 2. To reset, start at Settings-->Vehicle Maintenance-->Oil Life. Hold OK to reset. Could take a day or so to show up in the FordPass app, depending upon the last refresh date.

Same issue here. I was showing 53% oil life before the oil change. I reset the life, and it only reset to 83%, even after resetting 5x with different combinations of the truck in drive, park, brake pressed, etc.

It's an intelligent oil monitoring system. Whenever I use better oil like Amsoil it resets to 195 % oil life. ?

Alright. I waited 25 minutes and re-reset, and it's now at 100%. Didn't do anything else.

Had to do the same thing to reset mine, I didn't just change the oil, it was changed several months ago, but I guess they didn't reset it then, the sticker on the windshield shows several thousand miles until next oil change, but oil like was down to zero. Will make sure I reset it after the next change.

@Jus Cruisin is correct.

@Jus Cruisin To reset, start at Settings-->Vehicle Maintenance-->Oil Life. Hold OK to reset.
This is the way. Thx.

I had previously added oil life to Settings/Vehicle on the Sync4 screen. It shows the proper % and says 'Hold to Reset' - but that doesn't work.
