I do have a small rectangular piece of clear plastic or vinyl film that was in the small parts bag. I wonder if this is to prevent rattling or galvanic corrosion between the body and brace?
Yep, that’s it. Adhesive backed clear vinyl that folds over the edge of the aluminum fender. It actually goes between the painted fender and the rock guard, and the clip nut slides over it. There are two pieces on one piece of backing in the kit. I did install them, but I feel that they are very near useless.
For what it’s worth, the front set is perfect. They fit well and mount up easily, and look good. The back set is one of those designs that makes me want to have a stern conversation with the engineer that dreamed it up. It’s unnecessarily complicated in ways that makes them look cheap and kind of an afterthought. I understand why the brace is needed for the rears, but it could’ve been done so much better and cleaner.
