This morning my neighbors truck died on the road, so i took my car hauler trailer and gas can and other stuff so i didnt have to make 2 trips.
Of course all great plans go to crap and i had to come home and grab an item....HIS WALLET
anyway
i had mode selected as trailer tow and 4A selected. everything worked fine. UNTIL i shut off the truck with the trailer connected and the 4 way flashers going

when i restarted the truck, it asked if i wanted to stay in trailer tow???? WTHHHH trailer is connected so i selected OK
then it shifts out of 4A and into 2H, i then put it back in 4A

we get his ride going and i head home,
i get home and select pro trailer to back it back into the spot...truck cant seem to find the trailer. Mind you a few weeks ago i reloaded and re-calibrated same trailer after battery was changed
so i am hot and hungry so i turned off pro assist and truck shifts to 2H???
i re select 4A as my drive is 1" rock and is slippery with trailer connected .
i get trailer about 80% where it needs to be and un hook and turn truck around so i can use front hitch to put her in the tight parking spot, parking brake engaged automatically, hooked up trailer
i get back in truck, select drive and release parking brake and give it a bit of throttle to move and back tires spin, i look down and dammm its back in 2H, so i select 4A again and finish moving trailer
truck is still in tow mode

so i put truck in park, brake sets and i unhook
then i get back in and release brake and select NORMAL mode and truck is again back in 2H
so once more its selected to 4 A

i have never noticed it shifting out of 4A in previous tow events, did it get changed in the IPMA update a few weeks ago as well??

At that rate you are going to end up breaking the 4A button in frustration.

I do know that switching to "normal" modes that don't normally require 4x4 will always shift into 2H. I had truck in Eco and 4A when it snowed and when started truck confirmed to stay in Eco it shifted to 2H.

I do not have any of the updates on FDRS. Last update was 6.8.0

yes if i select eco it does shift to 2H , but you can force it back into 4A, but it will at next start go back to 2H

but this is 1st time it has ever decided in tow mode to shift to 2H on its own
my drive is slippery thick rocks so its easy to dig the rears with light throttle pushing the trailer, so i always make sure its in 4A or select rock crawl mode if its been raining or ice
the rocks are 5 inches thick base and in the area the trailer parks its a bit thicker from not being mushed
this is also 1st time i remember it asking to stay in tow haul when trailer is plugged in, before it never asked until trailer was disconnected

plus side, is the turn signal cameras and split view while driving to show rear wheels.
