I have two noises on my 2021 F150 Eco-Boost Lariat. In cold weather (below 30 degrees) I can hear a rhythmic ticking or rubbing sound (sounds similar to brakes grinding - but it's not that) coming from the front end when in regular drive mode. Engine noise will mask most of it but it can be heard consistently when slowing down/drifting under 10 MPH. Additionally, I get the same rhythmic sound but more of a clicking noise and less grinding sound whenever I'm in 4A regardless of the temperature.

I've had it to the dealer several times, but they can't even hear a door rattle every time the drivers door closes and they already screwed me on the CSP22B08 so I doubt they'll be much use. They've never heard either sound when left for them to fix other issues.

Any ideas?

I have a sound (sounds like a light tire rub) when it's colder in 2wd. Happens when I come to a stop. Usually only the first few minutes of a drive, but its not consistent, and it's and never in 4A. There is a thread on an intermittent hum, but what they describe sounds different from what you describe.

I get a sound like all terrain tires coming from the front. Either 4a or 2H. The sound goes away when I switch in between the 2 then a couple seconds later comes back. Pretty noticeable around 25-35. Then sometimes at highway speeds 70+ sounds like I’m driving on the rumble strips. Did not have this issue when weather was warm. Dealer replaced my driver side wheel bearing. Sound was gone for about the first 30 miles or so then right back. ?‍♂

Hi Jim! I can look into your F-150’s noise concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your F-150’s VIN?

Is this the noise you hear?

I get it RWD, when cold and mainly hear it at lower speeds and while turning it seems to be worse. Have had it into the dealership twice so far but they can't duplicate it. They don't believe it is an issue with the 4WD or the wheel bearings. Have seen people here post here have had both replaced only to have the issue to return almost immediately. Hopefully someone will be able to get this resolved and be able to explain it for all.

Just to follow-up. I took the truck in and the new service manager could hear the noise and they replaced a 4WD actuator. Noise was still there, maybe worse. Scheduled another appointment and the 2nd time around they took apart the trans-axle and there are three bearings that are bad. So, I'm waiting on parts. Still not 100% convinced that's it, but they've had my truck for three weeks now without a loaner. Hopefully they'll fix the frozen update screen so I can get updates.

The service manager said it's a known issue - or something like that, so heads up.

Apparently it wasn't the bearings either as it still makes the noise. So we're back to "coordinating" the next step through Ford's "hotline" (whatever that is). Over five weeks, no truck, no loaner, no concern on Ford's part about customer service. I had a 2015 XLT with 60,000 miles with the original tires and brakes, never a problem, but I wanted to trade up to a Lariat. What a mistake.

Mine was like this one, dealer replaced my transfer case, but it's still making the sound.

After 6 weeks in service my truck is fixed. They replaced steering components and more bearings (they didn't say where) but apparently wherever it was there was metal shavings that needed cleaned out as well. Still not exactly sure what the ultimate issue was, but the truck is no longer making noises in 4A.
You can learn a lot about the dealer's staff when a truck is in for 6 weeks. They didn't steal my Halo or iPod touch, but all of my loose change ($6-$10) was removed.
