Yeah it seems Ford is swimming in a sea of Recall/Warranty cost as of late with 2025 numbers pushing $5B. See https://www.ainvest.com/news/cost-reliability-ford-recall-crisis-implications-investors-2508/

For perspective these were the published numbers on the two max tow axle recalls

January 2024
Approximately 112,965 to 113,000 F-150 vehicles from the 2021-2023 recall
August 2925
103,174 F-150 vehicles from the 2023-2025 model years.

Don’t know what there all in $$ per unit on this recall but it would seem $200M would be a starting point.

I guess I got lucky. My old bolts weren’t broken. I took my truck to the dealer for other reasons and they asked if I wanted to do the recall. It took 7 weeks for the parts to come in. I dropped it off mid Sept and got it back early Nov.

Apparently, the total backlog in the Ford system is 73,000 units.
Assuming "units" is vehicles, that's 146,000 axle/hub assemblies, not a small number.

Thanks for your posts.

Here is my update for Tuesday, 11/11/2025. Had a Quick Lane appointment for an oil change at the local dealer in Metro Detroit. The appointment got moved to the Service Desk. I sat down and talked with the advisor BEFORE handing over my keys. He confirmed that parts were ordered at my last Quick Lane Oil Change on 7/10/2025, now 4 months ago. He was nice enough to print out a sheet that says yes you are "on the list" for parts once they become available. He told me he has five other friends all waiting for the same parts. His best "guess" for parts is Jan / Feb. 2026; take that with a grain of salt. He told me that the Quick Lane advisor who put me on the list will call me once they have parts.

I'm hoping the 11/21 prediction is true.
And it seems reasonable to assume that IF the initial shipments arrive, and they are as large in number as was stated earlier, one could expect the backlog will be met as well.

I have a friend who works in the parts department at said dealership. There was a shipment of just over 1,000 axles in Late Sept, but that won't nearly cover everyone who needs a set ....

Agreed.

I'm just saying that if it turns out to be true that 42 assemblies arrive on 11/21 at a single dealership, and that dealership is representative of all the dealerships with similar backlog, then it will be great news.

It kind of reminds me of when 100,000 Mach-E owners received a letter from Ford that we would be receiving free adapters to charge our EV's at Tesla chargers. It got plenty of press, and created goodwill with the consumers.
The procedure was to visit a web page and register for your adapter. The forum had threads dedicated to each owner posting their order number and sharing jf/when it was received, so that we could know when to expect our adapter.

I was number 48,xxx

We naively thought there would be substantial shipments. It was similar to this TSB in wording.

The first shipment was fairly prompt. A few thousand.
Then it went dry.
Months went by.
Attitude got pretty sour and the goodwill vanished.

Then suddenly whatever manufacturering hurdles that were being experienced, were resolved. The gates opened and in a few weeks the whole ordeal was historical and the subject went dormant.

I looked at my repair bill back in May and think was around $700 for both axle replacements, but don't quote me on this (quick scan). This will definately add up for Ford.

So what’s the deal when your buy a truck used(21) and 2 weeks later the axles fails? Happened on 11/15. The dealership got approval for the repair on 11/21.

I bought this truck for work, now I’m out, does ford supply rentals or is a loaner at the desecration of the dealer?

There has been plenty of people driving with them broken. What does fail mean? They bolts broke or axil is damaged? If they are broke go get truck and drive it until parts are ready. Lots of people were driving trucks unaware bolts broke.

if your axel bolts are broken , then ford should be able to expedite the parts to your dealer and get it fixed…

If your dealer/service manager is good, they can advocate to Ford to get a rental for you. My dealer set me up with a rental truck while waiting 7 weeks for all of the axle recall parts.
