Things I did fairly immediately when I bought my 21 was, wheel well liners (mainly to protect everything under there from getting blasted by road debris), did a transmission pan dump and fill (filter also), auto start/stop eliminater, cabin air filter, bilstein 5100's all the way around, fitcamx front and rear dash cam, raptor/tremor metal skid plate, H8 battery, and rubber bed matt.
Ohhh, also picked up a 3rd fob from Amazon for $30 and programmed it. You need 2 working fobs to program a 3rd, so if you loose one (or only recive one) then you'll be stuck going to the dealer or finding a locksmith that can program additional fobs.
That's a bit to unpack..... But here it is.
Thinking about the liners
Defiantly getting the trans serviced (having 67K unknown miles is frightening to me)
Great call on the cabin filter
Being a Limited, doesn't it have adaptive suspension? The bilsteins cover that?
Been eyeing the fitcamx as well (love that it looks factory and does NOT have a screen on it)
Is the skip plate for catalytic protection or off road?
Ill keep that H8 battery in mind when needed.
And I think Ill tryout the Tmat bed mat system for all my junk.
.... And the darn thing only has 1 fob. Didn't think to ask until after the paper work was done.

Thank you!

Good call, if you have the adaptive suspension then go ahead and see what you think of it first. I drove on the factory suspension for about 5 months first, and found it quite "floaty". Even the wife n kids weren't feeling to hot on longer road trips, felt like we were in a boat.

The skid plate was for more protection under there all around, and surprisingly wasn't all that expensive to do. My truck didn't come with anything underneath the truck and felt that a plastic transmission pan being the first line of defense was just asking for trouble. Like others have mentioned already, just enjoy the truck and see what you want/need. Everything I've done up to this point has been over the course of a year, not the 1st month of ownership.
Congrats on the new ride!

I'm in the same exact boat. Just got my first ever ford/ truck 2 weeks ago. '21 with just over 50K miles. I'll tell you my thoughts and what I've done so far. Things I did:

Trans flush and filter change
Oil Change
Oil catch can
spray in liner
mini antenna as other have mentioned

need to get around to spark plugs as most seem to stay on top of those.

the truck is amazing I love it so far. Only call outs that have me up at night are the horror stories around the transmission. I am in the process of shopping around for an ESP from one of the online dealers. there are also aftermarket solutions for a lot of the problems either way you'll be looking at a few grand just depends on personal opinion.

One thing you should NEVER EVER do is flush the transmission. ESPECIALLY the 10r80. Any mechanic worth his tool set will tell you how potentially bad this can be. Transmission flushes can and do kick up sediment in the pan which in turn bypass the filter and make it into the valve body causing scoring and irreparable damage, can also damage clutch packs, pumps, and solenoids. This leads to major problems with the transmission and will cost thousands to have repaired/rebuilt.

Having the transmission serviced by drain/fill with a new filter at the recommended intervals is by far the safest most reliable means of caring for the 10R80 or any automatic transmission.

That may be my bad I had a trans oil replaced and new filter installed at the dealer. Hope I didn't screw anything up? Many people online discuss the importance of keeping fluid fresh.

Good info here. Keep me posted on the ESP situation. That's a rabbit hole I haven't gone down yet!

Well, its pretty clear that this truck lived a pampered life, so a flush to wash out all the burnt transmission fluid shouldn't be necessary. But defiantly having it checked out either way once its in my possession. And sticking to the published service scheduled will be the MINIMUM maintenance I do.

I'd check to see if they did a pan drop and fill on it or specify a fluid flush. You can do a few syphon/fills as well to refresh the fluid without kicking up the sediment.

I guess I just assumed since they did the filter they would have had to drop the pan hopefully all is well! I will say though from what I hear (all online so I take it with a grain of salt) these transmissions are just a ticking timebomb anyway? Seems like pre CDF Drum change all 10r80s are basically scrap metal without a rebuild. Hope I'm wrong though.

I have some decent service records from the carfax. I might reach out to the dealers listed to see if I can get a copy of the RO's and see exactly whats been done. It might be a dead end if the previous owner had it serviced at some independent shops, but its worth a phone call or two to ask.

Think it might have a "next service due" sticker on the windshield from what I can see in the photos, so that might be another direction to go looking into.

Well that makes me nervous! Mine has a production date of 11/2020. When did they update the CDF Drum?

One thing I'll add, get Ford Pass on day 1 delete the old owner if they are still on the account and I can say from experience the ford pass shares a more comprehensive service history over the Carfax. it isn't super specific, but it had way more records then what Is saw on Carfax. I also didn't know about the Ford Pass app but it's a great tool to monitor the truck and helps with AutoStart other cools features.

The CDF drum was updated for the 23's. Some 21-22' never had an issue with them at all but others did.

Trust me getting Ford premium Care ESP with LED coverage is worth every penny. Saved me $5400 when my both OEM quad LEDs failed.
